Ski Resort Management(need info)

Can you have a career in ski resort management with a regular business degree from a school that doesn't specialize with any resort/ski resort management/operations?

I go to Georgia Tech. Im a 2nd year majoring in architecture right now, and Im burnt the fuck out of architecture right now. The only thing I could ever do besides architecture is somethings with skiing, managing a ski area or part of one, or running a ski shop or something. I want to enjoy my job, but I don't want a million late nights, tons of stress, and not much pay(what you get with architecture). Basically I can switch to business management and still get a good degree but could I use it for ski resort management?
 
Yes, all you need is a business degree, you don't need one to manage a shop though.  Overall your salary would be much higher as an architect.  Try to get an internship in ski area management to see if you like it, don't make such a big decision over something that you haven't tried out.  
 
That depends on which resort you'd want to work for.

Whistler for instance, wouldn't hire you with just a business degree alone, and not with just a SRM major either. That being said, they'd likely hire you for a front line position, and you could work your way up, regardless of what your education is. A business degree would accelerate your way up the chain, as would specialized knowledge in the industry that you'd gain from majoring in the industry...

If you wanted to work for a standard, smaller local hill, enthusiasm and experience would be just as good, and you'd learn primarily from on the job stuff...
 
Yo, but stick with architecture if you have the choice. There's a certain lifestyle that comes along with managing a ski resort, and uh, only a select few get to have the type of lives that architects do...
