Ski resort jobs

I'm graduating college at the end of May and I think I'm going to move to a ski resort and get a job. What are the best resorts (in the US) to work at? What are the best jobs to have (besides ski patrol and ski instructor)? Any other advice?

Thanks.

Alta's got the best deals for working and skiing. It's one of the only places that provides on mountain housing. Even Snowbird employees have to find housing down in the valley on their own.

lifty jobs work half hour on, half hour to ski, switching throughout the entire day.

there are lots of jobs you can work at night or late afternoon so you get a shit ton of ski time in, but then you gotta work every night.

just dont work at Alf's. trust me.

you might wanna check some resort thats a little more "plush" though.

being a liftie would kill me, theres no way i could watch other people go have a ton of fun skiing while i wouldn't be able to

im gonna be working in a shop this year - pays about twice as much as lifty, & youre in the warm inside not skiing, as opposed to freezing your arse off not skiing.

im also rostered to work some night, so extra $ without losing ski time

wow, i hope your not goin into this for the money cause theres none to be made, but still i love working on the snow, im a ski instructor and a shop tech/sales and id have to say there both higher paying jobs, specially if you can get a few good private lesson clients, thats when the cash really starts to come it

No, definitely not doing it for money. I just want to be able to ski for a year or so and come out even after housing and food and whatever else.

definitely do not be a ski instructor. you will be at the bottom of the totem poll vs. all the other instructers who have their PSIA level 2/3's so you will get people who have never skied before and spend your whole season in a wedge yelling "pizza." If you know a lot about park riding and can hit jumps and rails you should work in the park.

That's probably one of the hardest jobs on the mountain.

Park crew is pretty hard work also, and unless you have a pretty chill mountain, you're not allowed to do anything off the jumps except strait airs.

If you want to be able to ski, your best bet is patrol. When the days aren't busy, I pretty much spend most of the time just freeskiing.

yo, being on the park crew ia rough, i was working there with a friends of myne for a day and its a lot of work, you can do more than straight airs. as for ski patrol, yea that would be a wicked job on a quiet day, but on a busy day it would be real rough too. I am a ski instructor who use to be a race, the ski school knows that and i dont get a lot of low end kids, you will always get some, its unavoidable, but if you let them know that your strenghts are in the park they might give you a freestyle class, mabey higher level kids. Its a good job to have, i enjoy it tons

park crew is hard work but ur in teh park all day so i like it.. and ive never heard u can only do strait airs... wat mtn is that at??

I wash dishes and i get a free pass and free food when im working and i ski for half the day and wash for the other half i get like 6.75 a hour

Had an interview and mini ski test with Northstar. It was pouring rain and he was worried about getting us hurt, it was super sticky. I'm on their 'priority list' and I've applied to Alpine but Northstar is much more convinient for me, and takes a little less qualification (avy control).

i wanna take a year off and work like at alta in the kitchen at night and ski all day everyday.but im only 16 so i got a few more years before i can even do that.but i just mainly like skiing pow and the entire mtn, only park gets really old really fast, i like skiing pow and trees and cliffs way more than park.

its all about skkin all day , driving the groomers till 3 in the mornin, sleepin in ur shitass van in the parjkin lot, and then wakin up at 8 to do it all again. living the dream

well the best thing I can think of would for you to be a prostitute on the mountain just giving out blowjobs and sex for money. you know how much loot you could make, it would be insane

What jobs did you hold and what were they like? Also, what are your credentials, im curious about that end of the business.

^uhhh no credentials, can u read a script and bug the shit out of people from calling them trying to sell some shit?

then u are qualified to be a telemarketer

depends on what you like.... both skiing, and night life. If you like a busier place, park skiing, bc, or what? wh'atd u get your degree in

there isnt the cash flow doin that, id say get a day job on the hill, ski instructor, park crew, ski patrol, liftie, that way you can have a night life, but if your goin to some place that costs a fortune to live there like banff or whistler, you shall need a night job too

sage did something similar to what someone said up there^

I think I read that he washed dishes and got free food and a place to stay included, peruvian lodge at alta maybe? Not sure, but yes ski instructing sucks unless you can bypass the first 2 years somehow, going to line ups on nice days was horrible at my mountain

Well, I have a film degree and ideally I'd love to do something related on the mountain, but jobs like that seem hard to find. I like skiing park and just freeskiing in general, and I think I'd prefer a less busy resort for sure.

I worked at Vail for two winters Grooming on Night Crew. Worked from 4pm tell 2:30AM. 4 10 hour days a week. you could do that and still ski everyday of the season. even though i didn't. but grooming jobs are a little hard to get.

Even though I had Job Offers from Beaver Creek, vail, Keystone and Park City. all with in a couple weeks of each other. so it was hard to decide. but i knew people from school that worked at vail and just went there. Education helps I have a degree in Ski Area Managment. So i got all the job offers with a snap of my finger. It was so easy.

who care' about job's just get one for your pass and that's all what is important ride nothing more!!!!

so do many others like green moundtain college and farmington in maine I think, just google it
