yeah metal's best, but if you can't swing that, pvc rails are just a couple bucks for ten ft

can you elaborate a little on 'metal' like put it over wood or learn how to weld and make a super shity one

i'm experimenting by putting a piece of sheet metal over a thin piece of wood and folding down all of the edges so i don't cut myself when i fall.

unless you had access to welding tools and a good person to help/teach you, i'd stick to pvc. You can make the frame with 2x4's and make a double barrel pvc sliding surface on top, i made a rail like that once works pretty well.

i just use old farm gates at my sis horse farm and then my sis friend owns a pipe bender and is goin to bend me a s-rail and them i just use wood and pvc
