If you dont want to spend tonnes of money....you can get a sport rack from Canadian Tire (if you live in Canada), or any sport store should carry somethng that will do the trick.

i am partial to yakima racks, they work very well and are very versatile.

i'm looking for a rack, too. it's for my passat. go to the yamika or thule sites and they walk you through it. so simple.

^^ but they cost an arm and a leg... and we all know it would be hard to land switch with just one leg :)

or just put your ski inside the car, it will save the ski from the dangerous road salt.

there is always ebay. Check what fit kit you need for your car and just look it up. You can always get load bars and ski racks cheap as hell on ebay. you may want to get the foot mounts new though (dont want to loose your stuff). I was using a thule 726 ski rack 5 years year ago when it opened up on the freeway and 5 sets of skiis went airborn. We even had the locking cylinders fo rit. Anyways, my shit got ran over by a semi truck and the others got destroyed by rolling and tumbling. I called up thule and in about a months time they bought me new skiis and gave me a new rack. I was still pissed, but i get compensated. I have yet to have a problem, but i always use an additional strap to make sure it's shut.

u know when thule walks u through what u need? well is there a way to set it up so that u dont need all that crap? i got a 95 neon (cool car eh) 4 doors. i just want a cool rack without it sticking 5 feet off the top of my roof.

I have some new thule LB50 bars i can sell you, cheap, but then you would have to get a fit kit and ski accesory, what year is the cav?

You guys are hella getting ripped off if your paying $230 for car racks.....i got the newest racks from thule with the rollers and all, and i only paid $150.....i suggest you purchase the racks directly from the company, instead of going through a mercant...you'll save lots of money!

you got the clips, bars, locks, towers, fairing, and 6 pair rack for $150?? cause that's what i'm getting for $230.

ok i now know everything i need but it's coming out to like 300dollars on all these sites. anyone know where i can get a good deal. if i get stuff from ebay ill have to buy each part at a time which kind of sucks

I have a honda accord 2 and im like screw a rack. . .the back seats fold down=mad room. . .and some cars with the fold down armrest in the rear seats. . .behind it u can take out that part so u can fit long objects from trunk in it and still have room for 2 people. . but me i dont have it so folding down the seats is enough, plus i hate having a full car, if i ever need more than 1 person riding with me going skiing. . .ill just cut the plastic out behind the rear passenger armrest and just put a hinge on it.

yeah my seat folds down but it kind of sucks trying to fit 3 or 4 people in the car with all our shit

another problem is if u have all these skis/boards in ur car and u were to get into an accident those fuckers could spear u right in the back of the head.... a rack is worth it

get one of those deals that you role up in your window... the window rolls all the way up still and it works like one of those car flags. you all can call it gay or whatever but they work and are cheap like 20$ some even lock. one goes on the front window and one on the back... they even make ones that have suction cups to stick to the top of the car... i heard they dont work as well.. i dont use these but they are the lesser expensive way out... check eBay

whatever holds your skis, fuck it who cares what it looks like.....

I can sell you lb 5o bars and 400 aero feet for $100, then you would just need to get the fitkit and the ski attachment

it's worth the extra money to get a good rack on top. Those racks often come with a warrenty to cover your junk if it should happen to take flight while driving. Skis are expensive to replace.
