Ski Rack for a Lotus Elise?

yeah...most of us drive lotus elise's skiing actually.

you can afford an elise, buy something that should actually be driven to the mountain.

I saw one today, and it's probably one of the lowest cars that I've ever seen. I also doubt that someone would make a ski rack for it, unless you couldget one custom made.

HAHAHA
they're pretty much go-karts with aero body kits. there's a guy who lives a few blocks away from me who drives one... first time i ever saw him, he was being pwned by a new GTR. that's pretty much my perception of Lotus cars at this point- cute with no bite.
to answer your question, though, shoot Jon an email- he had to find one for his Lambo. wait, he'd probably read it's for a Lotus and assume you're bullshitting him.

well come on now, that little tidbit means nothing. those nissans might as well be ferraris performance-wise.

that said, your fail of a 'CHECK OUT MY KOOL KAR' thread has been fruitless. buy a volvo 240 and spend the rest of the money on booze.

oh, i know they aren't comparable cars, it was just nice watching a guy with a mid-life crisis mobile (Lotus) get put in his place by a real supercar.

word, i got one theyre pretty dope minus teh whoel 15 MPG. i got a bed in the back and shit fits everything i could possibly need

haha i can only imagine...like the guy with the recently purchased honda shadow hanging his head in shame when a 1942 knucklehead rolls up next to him.

cant beat those moments, its nice to see people put in their place.

I'm 99% sure they don't make racks for the elise.
You'll need to get rails custom mounted to the hardtop and find a smaller rack/ cut down a rack to get it to fit.
haha skis on top of an elise would look hilarious (considering they're almost as long as one of those cars) ;)

But honestly, I wouldn't recommend driving one to the mountain unless you have studded tires......VERY sketchy...and that's one car you don't want to be wrecking.
I guess you're looking at an earlier one now, right? Prices are in the high 20's.... awesome cars.

You people obviously don't know what lotus' are for. They aren't built for killing other cars in the straights. They're built for gut busting cornering(which they do extremely well due to their weighing about as much as feather. And besides, isn't the elise a convertible? I thought the exige was the hardtop.

well is jon can get one for his lambo, im sure you can get one for your elise.

Definitely cool cars!!

real supercar? you mean computerized bitch mobile? the gtr's a great car, but its no "real" supercar at all, not even close. real sports cars are rwd and dont do all the driving for you. the gtr is for rich people who want a fast car that doesnt take skill to drive. any real driver will tell you that the elise is the proper sports car out of the two. id much rather drive an elise, or even better an exige. lotus is one of the only companies out there putting out real sports cars anymore. almost everyone else is producing shit cars with numb shitty feel, computerized everything to do all the driving for you. and a big engine and calling it a sports car.but lotus still knows whats up.

you are an idiot... so a porsche carrera thats all wheel drive isnt a sports car? you need to read more about cars and not reiterate what others post on the internet.

Whats all the hate for on Lotus? The Elise is a sick car. I would love to have one. It's one of my favorite cars. I do not think that you could put a ski rack on it because it is a hardtop convertable, but probably worth looking into.

Right.......
I bet you've tracked a GTR, so you know ALL about it hey? Yeah....that car would definitely be a "computerized bitch mobile" for "rich people who want a fast car and don't do all the driving for you".
Your post is the biggest load of BS./
haha REAL sports cars are all RWD.

Apparently I need to provide a background story before I make a thread.

I don't have an elise. I'm considering what car to buy. I think its a sick car, but if I can't find a ski rack for it, then I won't get one. If I do buy one, I'll get it used. I couldn't give a shit if you think its a girls car, its not fast, etc. It's tiny, and powerful and can rip corners like nothing, plus its just fucking sick looking and decent priced (used).

I live in NJ. I have a mountain about a half an hour away. It is 100% snow guns. We don't get a lot of snow storms here and they clear the roads off really quickly. Usually we might get 2-3 big storms a year. Otherwise, the roads are usually really clean. Last year, I only drove once to the mountain when the roads were a little snowy.

And does anyone know jon's email?

I found a picture of somethign that might work...

an awd porsche carrera isnt much of a sports car compared to a rwd gt3, or even carrera 2. sure you can have AWD and still be considered a sports car, but its not a "true" sports car until its RWD. the thing that doesnt make the GTR a pure sports car is all of its electronics and drivers aid's. it being awd isnt bad, but it certainly doesnt help. my whole point was that between an elise or exige, and a gtr, the lotus is the real sports car out of the two, the gtr doesnt even come close.

they aren't meant to be a fast car, they are meant to handle really well. as far as this thread goes, imo pretty sure its just a mimic of the lambo one for who ever is actually trying to help him. or maybe it is legit, who knows.

do it! if you got a decent pair of snow tires on some cheapo steel wheels, that car would do fine as long as it wasnt like 2 feet of snow. elises are so sick, and dont let anyone tell you they arent fast, they are pretty damn quick in a straight line, but you will be pulling more lateral g's than anyone in their big power car's will ever pull under acceleration. and they get better track times than cars with three times the power and twice the price. and you could easily build something to fit skis on your car you could buy the part of a ski rack that clamps the skis down seperate. then maybe get 4 suction cups like in that picture, rig them up to a bar that runs across the windshield, and mount the ski clamping thing to that. it will take some ghetto rigging, but it wont be that hard. dont let a ski rack stop you from choosing your car, because there is definatly a way.
