Ski racing

I used to race and I have no shame in saying that. I can thank racing for giving me a super solid background and the confidence/ability I need to ski the terrain that I like to ski. The point you raise is definitely an interesting one, with the noticeable division between the freeskiers and racers at your school. I used to love racing, it was super fun and I was pretty decent at it. The reason I got out, however, was because of the people involved. Not only was it the other racers, but the organizers, coaches, etc... They weren't people that I wanted to associate myself with for a number of reasons which I won't get started on because I'll rant for hours. I've always wondered what it would be like to go to a school for freestyle, but the thought never crossed my mind for racing. In closing, racing is fun and deserves a ton of respect. Racers themselves (for the most part) are douche bags and don't deserve the credit that they receive.

racing is a g sport. when there is a racer in the family the whole family starts to become thugs...look a bode miller...his cousin shot a cop and hes just a straight g.

I raced for a couple of years and man it takes skill and focus. For me i quit cuz its super repetitive and i cant take that but my bro races on the FIS circut and he trains like 10 day a year.

I dont know where all these, "kids who cant ski and just do park" are. Everyone I see around here skis just fine and shreds the park and pow. LOTS of boarders who do that, but no skiers.

i respect them that it takes so much conditioning for it, but i fuckin hate the vibe they give off! they think there all that. and when they come in the park they dont have any style at all. grrrr

sorry if i offended any of you but im not a fan of it

I'm 20, I've been skiing pretty much my whole life. At this point in time I wish I could've raced so bad, given the base and fundamentals it provides you. I'm a pretty damn good skier but I feel like if I raced a couple years of my life I would be significantly better. I'd start racing now mostly for fun if it wasn't so fucking expensive though

i'm primarily a racer, and just started messing around in the park this year. The freeskiing/park community is so much nicer. There is always the feeling of "I'm better than you" while racing. In the park, its mostly everyone helping eachother and giving eachother tips. I also don't know of any racing site as cool as this or any racing movie that is longer than 10 minutes that I could watch.

hahah wordd.

im racing for my school next year and senior year, i used to be all anti racers but now i dont really give a shit, except my mountain caters to them.

they give them almost all the money they make, the trail they race on basically gets closed if a racer decided they want to ski on it, they have speakers down the whole trail, and it would be the best trail on the mtn for a park.

so other than them being obnoxious/gaper in the park and stealing our trails, their not bad.

word! ive been racing 3 years and in freestyle for like 1, maybe 1 1/2 years, kids who freestyle for the love of the sport are usually so much more chill than fellow racers.
