how many of u do it? im doing it for my skool this year. i am pissed that i need new skis tho. and wearing spandex is gunna blow and look gay.

yeah it's gay, but racing toughens you up, and really devolopes you're skiing style, it's also a good fu$%en work out... think about how many pros started with racing?? Jon Olsson, Holmes, just to name a few...

yeah i race and the only thing its good for is getting miles on the hill. and another thing stop making posts of topics that already exist

i race and i enjoy it. it is a good workout and you kinda have to be in really good shape to do well with it. its realy fun too, but its not all i do. and yes i am pretty good at it. and i can ski

i've found that newschool skiing actually helps with a couple aspects of racing... my balance in gates is much better because of riding switch and landing wrong and trying to survive, stuff like that...

i don't race bacause our race team is soooo gay on our hill. but if i started and trained for a season i think i'd give everybody a run for their money

I flunked out of school cause i'm hardcore.

And this whole time i thought my penis was just inside out.

a million per year, for miller, god knows how much money the austrain team is getn. And its a really good start, i was with moguls, and racing before i switched to freestlye

Cant we all just get along, fuck that, can't we all just get a bong

i race and like it but its awesome because i'm semi sponsered by atomic so they give me good deals on freeskis. also racing is good because i get a pass at my mountain for $125 when its usually around $1000

you are all gay

racing sucks balls

hehe

my intire crew waited for his ass at the bottem of the hill and beat the shit out of him. i broke his poles agianst a tree, and we snapped one of his skis. fucker got uppercutted so much. he was bleeding from his eyes and shit, crying like a little pussy. i busted out a body slam on his ass and broke both of his arms. the ski patroler broke up the fight and clipped all of our tickets. we where gonna beat the shit out of the patroller but my mom came to pick us up.

racing actually isnt that bad, except for the gay ass spandex. with our team van, its how i get to the mountain every day, and get to go to mammoth, park city, copper and other resorts. Plus this year my mountain gave me a free season pass for being the best female racer on our team. And racing has helped with my balance and technique for freeskiing, so its easier for me to land square when I jump cliffs and boulders. And it has also helped with balence in the air, like when im doing 180s and 360s.

**If you cant tuck it that huck it!**

i quit cuz i didn't like all the constraints and rules. People teling me what to do, when to train. Fuck that, I just ski when i want now. I hate racing.

i laugh at the race kids on powder days becuase they're running gates and i'm hitting 7 inches of freshies. mwahaha.

Racing probibly teaches you the optimum form of skiing, gives you the best balance and the right stuff for big mountain, I use to Race almost evey day in the winter. There are so many people who started out racing, McConkey, Nobis, Morrison, Piefer, and Cummings. Some of the best big moutain names out there. Racing is trying to get down there hill the fastest, and you have to have the best form and body position to do it. Sure the downhill suits are tight and uncomfortable, but Im sure most of you would shit your pants goint 60-70 mph on ice.

I wish my school had a team because I think it would be cool to get to ski so much. I hate skiing when one of the other teams is at the hill because we only have 1 lift and there team makes the line twice as long. Its gay.

There is nothing motherly about mother nature. Except for her big mountainous breasts.

im gonna try and get a team started at my school for next year.

i guess im still into racing if you consider skiercross racing.

Regardless of how anyone feels about it, racing is one of the best ways to build a solid technique, just as moguls teach serious edge control, sking without poles helps with balance, and x-country builds leg muscles. All the skiing disciplines help with the others and make one a better skier.

You guys putting down racing should give it a try. It's competitive and helps develop timing and balance. It helps my slopestyle and big mountain alot, and it's a friggin' blast to rip down a big deep field while punks who don't know how to do anything but spin and flip fight their skis to get a good run-in.

some of you guys are saying how all sorts of skiers started out racing... but if you havn't noticed they DON'T RACE ANYMORE, because they found out it was fucked!

you know why?

because it really is gay, and they know it, and they got out of it!!! No one gives a fuck if it helps your balance when you're in the air, because you could actually be out dropping cliffs, or taking runs through the park!

If your on your school team, and your doing it so you can ski that's one thing (I unfortunatly fall into that group) but holy shit, screw the slalom, and bust out skis that are your height, and hit up the mountain!

Pull the gates out of your asses!

^^^^^^

immature.

anyways, i raced for 13 years and i am now a coach (CSCF II, CSIA II)...it's most likely going to be my career. I am not going to get into the stupid fucking arguments on here, just contributing to the thread in a positive way.

im doing it onmly cuz i need to do sumthing at skool to put on my college application. and i know i will kick sum ass. and its only monday through thursday. anyone race with there twins cuz if i dont hafta im not gunna buy new skis.

you could borrow someone else's racing skis for the race... just a thought, I'm pretty sure that you can race on practically anything as long as it qualifies as a ski (100cm+).

No Mr.Porcupine, I don't wanna see your weiner

Only the gay race teams train on power days. our coach knows we would refuse to train. and last season when we go a 4ft+ dump we were all out gettin face shots and hittin the cliffs

I don't race but if you do i would stay in it because my friend races he went to the Jounor Olympics and his style in the park is just like Jon Olsson's and it sure looks like it helps with blance, style, and that stuff!

I raced during Highschool, only for my 11 & 12 years. It was actually alot of fun. Sure, there were some days I would have rather been skiing the park but we got to do a bunch of trips. My team came second in provincials. If your not going to be really serious about it, twins are fine to race with. If your only racing GS, it won't make too much of a difference.

i'm racing with my school this year.... i don't see why you wouldn't, it results in me spending less time in school and more time on the hill, and besides we only train for 1 to 2 hours a day and get the rest of the day to do what we like, and its funny listening to the weiners in the spandex making fun of my ski's cause of the twin tips

i really enjoy racing its really fun we go to a bunch of places and junior olympics is in mammoth so we get to go there that a plus. but its a lot of fun being able to actually make really good turns going down a run and have people look at you like you are really good. also our coaches take us into the park or to jumps when we split up into groups and make us go off the jumps. its not like all we do is train.

i did racing was really in to it, skied 5 days a week last year, but im quiting now and i love to just ride.

Dude, you just touched Kristy Boner's Whoo-Who's........Shibby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm racing for several reasons.... some of which are...

I like to go fast... I like to kick ass. And unfortunately I'm not good enough at newschool yet to bust it out on everyone... so I figured I'd bash some gates and take some names.

Secondly, time on the hill is a HUGE factor. If I wasnt on the team, and told my dad that I was going to go skiing every day after school, he'd say Hell no! But right now I'm logging six days a week skiing, and I can't complain with that.

I like the racing itself too... training isn't difficult and there's still plenty of time for freeride... plus the time spent training really helps my form and style, which translates into mad steeze in the park... now not only can I do a switch on-270 off, but I can carve away from the rail after. Sick.

GAY! GAY! GAY! GAY! GAY!

id rather hit my dick with a hammer

no wonder k2skiGimp has got so many posts, 99% of them are just shit like that fine effort above. and by the way get rid of that stupid fuckin signature, its so dumb.

ski racing = fun= really hard = produces the best skiers

Dude, GSQueen, We're goin to mammoth!! wahooo. DOMINATION. THis weekend is gonna rock. plus they're opening the park on sunday.

I know i am way siked. we have a bunch of snow we are even having the race on limited. woo hooo. DOMINATION!!! but sorry you are going to have to take second. i trained today with our little buddy that hates me and i think that i can beat her ass into the ground woo hooo!!!!

Heh, there is something oh-so-fun about leaving trenches in the ground when you carve too. Speed can be just as much fun as air.

BTW, I wouldn't reccomend using twins if you are serious about racing (or serious about winning) unless you have a long, STIFF pair.

Lots of pros race to train, and get their newschool backgrounds from racing. It can seem gay, but once you actually get in the gates and do it yourself, it's kinda fun! Some say it doesn't matter about the pros racing because they all quit and took up newschool, well we aren't all pros and i'm gonna race until i get that good at newschool. Its easy, gets me out of school more days than any other sport (and race days are excused), i get to ski everyday, and a race team becomes a family, which is awesome. We all party and ski together and have a good time. Racing stuff isn't really gay at all. Whats gay is the hardcore racing cocks spending their weekends and other free days in their GS suits working on their turns.

yea everyones saying how it improves your balance for the park but you know what helps your balance in the park even more, going and skiing the park not hit gates. Im sure it helps your balance but itll help oyu way more just to quit racing and start skiing

I guess I could live with it on the weekday as long as I don't jave to wear those queer little tights.

I really wanted to get into racing this year, because I want to become a better skier, and it looks like a ton of fun. Unfortunatly, I don't have enough money for joining a team, getting some race equipment and paying for a lift ticket every couple days. Hopefully this summer, I can scrap up enough money for it!

I reaced for three years in high school probably my most memroable high school moments. before racing i was a park junkie and a shitty skier. after racing my technique improved so much, the balance aspect of racing is amazing and you become much more in tune with your skis from racing, in fact the best people in the parks were also the ones that raced. racing gave me an appreciation for the whole mountain so when the park is shitty nonexistent or too crowded i can go have just as much fun carving the shit out of the hill. racing makes you comfortable and in control at speeds which can lead to big air off otherwise bad jumps. i would definitely recommend some time in the gates to anyone looking to get better, even if you can stomp any trick you can imagine in the park you will look even better in the air after racing. plus getting to beast the hell out of gates is great anger management i would recommend that to all you pissy posters.

Gotta love the midwest

MAn, so what happened to all he awesome people on this site?? Racing really isn't that gay at all. Plus guys in spandex = hot chick wanting on your nuts, racing builds form which leads to better skiers. Yeah i guess since i can go down a hill faster than you and with better technique, that makes me gay...

PEACE - MATT

FIS SUCKS

Racing is so much fun, we spend a lot of time freeskiing, yes we do wear spandex the only thing i hate about it is that its so freakin cold. Those of you that call it gay have no idea how much faster it makes you go. Those of you that dis racing don't dis it untill you tried it. And i don't want to sound like an ass but i gurantee you that all of us that have racing experince on this site are most likely better skiers then the people that havent will ever be
