Ski Poles

Just write what you think about ski poles in general.

Do you use ski poles?

How long are they?

How long have you been using them?

Did you buy the first pair you found or one specific model?

Sorry for my bad english

i cut my poles down

so that they are sixty-five

degrees from my elbow.

A haiku that is approximately true.

I use regular 120cm (47") Scott poles for everyday skiing, and I have Armada adjustable poles for touring and powder.

Been using the Scotts for 3 seasons now. They're bent and chipped but they do the job just fine. Bought the Armadas last season and I really like them.

I use these old beat up poles that were given to me. They were cut down to fit my short self so i have no idea how long they are. I sometimes go without and during those times i miss them when in the lift line to help with getting to the chair

I have kind of used a bizarre selection of poles.

Line junior adjustable poles that were my park poles. They’re battered and don’t adjust so easily anymore. Got some tiny armada poles that a mate on season found lapping a gondi solo, they’re super fun.

Then I have some 130cm’s that I use for steeps and ‘real’ skiing but the adjustment back to the ‘right’ length and they always feel so bizarre and throw out my technique when I adjust.

I also don’t use poles indoors or on dry slope/some park laps.

Essentially. I use what I’m in the mood for. Love swerving with no poles. Love a good fall line pole plant on the steeps.

Use whatever’s clever (totally) Trevor.

Why do poles used in the park appear shorter than "regular" poles? Are they actually shorter and why ?

I think its just because they're less likely to get in the way if they're a bit shorter

Yeah it’s basically this and some people have either learnt or are just really used to poles that their balance isn’t right without them. Saw a kid in Val Thorens absolutely shred the park there but at the same time had these 50-60cm poles just for the right balance

Why do I use poles? Because I like to make proper turns. Proper turns, as in the turns that 95% of the skiing community cant do. Ah, the lost art of the turn. Get on it park rats.

Shorter is always relative so if you think you have shorter poles someone can always show up with shorter poles and then you'll have longer poles.

Wow I am so bored...I never write about this kinda stuff.

I have 2 pairs; one for ripping park and shredding inbounds. im 6'2'' and like them waist high, graphite type.

The other are aluminum single stage collapsible for back country touring. As long as they arent bent to shit, it doesnt matter.
