so i need to cut my ski poles down but i don't know how to get the grips off the poles to cut them down can anyone help me?>

use a hair dryer on the highest heat setting and cook the grips - slide them off and cut... you'll need to use more glue to re-adhere them to the shaft when you're done, but don't use something like crazy glue or gorilla glue if you think you'll ever need to take them off again

if you have compressed air handy just aim the nozzle doolie under the grip and it should be easy to pull off

contrary to most peoples belief of glue holding the grips on, its generally just rubber that shrinks around it. you put your grips in hot water to expand the rubber so they can slide off. if the grips got too cold after sliding them off, then you puit them back in hot water and slide em on. no glue should be needed

ive also done it with just a small hammer. you put the pole in a vice and tap the grip off slowly. it woks fine depending on your grips. my grips were more plastic than rubber so i dont know what you have

All your methods are too time consuming.

Close a heavy door on the grips and have a friend lean against the door and PULL! takes like 10 seconds.

that is exactly what i do. it works with every ski pole except i havn't been able to get the grips off k2 poles. All the guys in my shop use the door-jam method too.

If their Scott poles than follow these instructions...

1. take the screw out of the top

2. put soap around the bottom of the grip

3. pour water over the soap

4. hit the grip on the ground so the soap goes into the grip

5. put it in a vice and fucking pull

put the pole shaft in a vice, take a wrench and hold it flush with the grip, take a hammer and hit the wrench.
