No, they don't do it for free... At least not the ones I know. I don't know how much. Probably varies quite a bit...

I don't know.... search around. Patrollers make more money than instructors, if they are hired by the resort. the patrollers that you guys are thinking of are the ones that just show up once and a while for a season pass.

MD... Dain bramaged.

I just did my entire senior project on ski patrollers. The average is 13 an hour. But a lot of them do volunteer for the free skiing. It ranges from 8 to 20 an hour.

hey dude..at the hill i work at ,weekend patrollers voulunteer, and weekday pros make 9 dollars an hour, while pl's make 12 dollars an hour..but its the best damn job you can have, first tracks are worth the low pay!

i dont usually like them...one time i was so pissed off at one i went and cut his pass

why does everyone say that they always have a 'stupid' project. Why is it stupid? If you have to do something for school, you might as well try to do it.

The ones in the yellow jackets are volunteers, they belong to some organization, but I forgot the name. Like any job, I'm sore salaries vary.

I worked as a patroller for two years (that's right....). Pay was ok by Ontario standards. PT was $10/hour. FT was $12. It's not too much more out west, but it depends on the level of training you have and if you are dealing with explosives.

the ones in the yellow jackets are 'national ski patrol' and the rest are hired by the resorts themselves, it's way easier to be a national ski patrol, i've known some that were really shitty skiiers, being a regular ski patrol requires much harder tests etc. i'm pretty sure national ski patrol don't get paid they just get free tickets but the regular ones either get an hourly wage or a salary. dunno how much.
