depends on the area... at my local hill ski patrollers are all volunteers who don't get paid anything.

yeah its really jsut all about the perks they get, free pass, dont have to work that often (some of them, i know one guy who only had to work 1 weekend out of 3), etc.

at my "mountain" which is 200 ft of vertical all ski patrollers are volunteers

We got patrolers here that do it for a living and there on $18 an hour(aus). I did volinter for a year, got treated like shit and got all the crappy jobs casuse i was the youngest. Then i got kicked out cause i kept rockin the park and hittin cliffs even though it was my day off. They didint want young "hollagens" in skis patrol

well it depends on the mountain some mountain will pay others peopole will volunteer
