has anyone noticed how its like ski patrollers all have the same turning style and shit. i'm talking about how they've all conformed to wearing the normal orange or red with the white cross. but if you watch one...you'll see that they all ski EXACTLY the same. turn, plant. turn, plant.

its pretty fucked up if you ask me

I hear what you're saying but when i think ski robots i think ski instructors. they've all been brain washed to think there is only one correct way to ski.

ski patrolers at my hill are a mix of alpine, free heel and snowboarders and they do all have and similar syle i guess.

hahaha all the instructors at my mountain are old guys who really dont care about any thing i have to take lessons for my college gym credit and we went through the woods the other day when we had a good snow fall, the ski patrolers are the ones ya gotta look out for, but then again our head patroler loves twin tipers last year we were hiking the park after season and got caught by him and he brought us a shit load of shovels and rakes and shit then he hung out and had lunch with us and watched us ski

same for most of the people at gore mtn there are a few of cool ones but most suck at life, especially the bitch in the ski patrol lodge if you hurt yourself....and her face looks like balls

thats because there is a correct way to ski, a correct way to coach, and a correct way to appear in uniform, ski with some of them when they arent rockin the red coat and its a whole different story. and to someone who said "its because they are brain washed into thinking there is only one way to ski" fact is, there is only ONE correct way, i am not even going to begin to explain why but you should try learning a thing or two about seperation, counter, angles, articulation, pressure, and so forth. Its great to have your own uniqe style, but when in uniform it is appropriate to know how to ski correctly and to do so, especialy if coaching.

wait the people woth the crosses are ski patrol? I thought it was the swiss army? I was always wondering why the swiss army was skiing here.

So maybe to make you happy ski patrol should sag their pants and ski around backseat and totally out of control so they can be like the park kids? Come out to Bozeman and try riding with some of the patrollers out here, it will be a good learning experience for you.

I will admit though one of our patrolers throws cork 9's like nobodies buisness and has more steeze than just about anybody, and he can do everything while wearing a radio.

yeah, my old boss is a volunteer ski patroler, he is probobly one of the most hardcore people I have ever seen.

But I just laugh at all the other patrollers picking up trash side stepping down the face.

yea ski patrollers all ski the same becaus ethey KNOW HOW TO SKI. I wish i could ski like that if i wanted to. But the thing is.. i cant because I never had a background in regular downhill skiing. I basically just got right into park. which is a bad idea(my opinion)

They do know how to ski. They are mostly very good advanced skiers. But there definately is a certain style most of them share. Trust me, you won't see me turning like a patroller. :0

most of them do it cause they enjoy it and they've been in lessons from when they were but wee skiers

most of them just ignore you until your hurt or you do something wrong

be a sweet job tho

get paid to ski around all day

and ski for free on the days off

i could dig it

Actualy I dont ski like the old farts at my hill. Im a patroller and Im only 17, Im certified for the tobaggan in both skiing and snowboard...but yes most ski the same boring way. I prefer to ski switch so that the cross is in front so when fallen people look up hill they see me coming but thats just me ;)

exactly. one of my friends is an ambassador at our mountain (he's 18) and when he's rocking the blue and orange ambassador coat, he's not allowed to hit rails, jumps, or ski switch. but when he gets out of work, it's a whole different story

i dunno, most patrollers I've seen have really hacked form. But it's because most patrollers are just weekend warriors who (rightly) worry about mountain safety more than skiing ability.
