Millions

of skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes every year — in fact last

year the nation’s ski resorts saw a record number of visitors. While

snow sports enjoy an excellent safety record, injuries and deaths occur

on the slopes each year. With the ski season about to kick off, truTV

is set to launch a high-adrenaline, high-stakes series called SKI PATROL.

Premiering Monday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT), the series follows an

elite group of patrollers whose special training makes them part

mountain rescuers, part medical technicians, part cops and part good

Samaritans.

In SKI PATROL,

truTV follows two teams of men and women who work in some of the most

extreme environments in the country. Whether they’re performing

high-altitude rescues, splinting a broken arm or busting unruly

snowboarders, these brave men and women put it all on the line to keep

the slopes safe.

The half-hour series gives viewers unique access to patrol units at

Blue Mountain, Pa., and Crystal Mountain, Wash., as they respond to

everything from injured vacationers and missing children to

out-of-bounds snowboarders and skiers careening out of control. truTV

also follows the patrollers after hours, as they seek to unwind from

the day’s events.

In episode one, a young man faces paralysis after taking a ski pole

to the chin while attempting a difficult stunt. When an avalanche

blocks an emergency vehicle from scaling the mountain, an already

demanding rescue becomes nearly impossible. Also, one young girl

shatters her wrist after a spill on the mountain but falls even harder

for the patroller who helps her.

In episode two, the extreme sport of paraskiing takes over Crystal

Mountain. Extra patrollers are called in to monitor dozens of

paraskiers flying above. Later, a patrol mobilizes to treat a

snowboarder who suffers a severe head injury and broken vertebrae after

a flip goes wrong. When married patrollers Andrew and Michelle perform

a routine avalanche control mission, the day turns disastrous as

Michelle is buried alive.

SKI PATROL’s

Crystal Mountain episodes are produced by Varuna Entertainment, Inc.

for truTV and executive-produced by Jason C. Morgan and Robert A.

Zazzali. The Blue Mountain episodes are produced by Bunim/Murray

Productions for truTV and is executive produced by Jeff Jenkins and

Jonathan Murray. For truTV, Robyn Hutt is the executive in charge of

production. Tony Horn is executive producer and Madelyn Brudner serves

as associate producer on the series.

truTV is television’s destination for real-life stories told from an

exciting and dramatic first-person perspective. Currently seen in 91

million U.S. households and enjoying more than a year of solid and

consistent ratings growth, truTV features high-stakes, action-packed

originals that give viewers access to places and situations they can’t

normally experience. Among truTV’s primetime fan favorites are the

original series Smoking Gun Presents; Most Daring; Speeders; Ocean

Force; Principal’s Office; Forensic Files; and Dominick Dunne’s Power,

Privilege and Justice. During the daytime, the channel features expert

trial coverage under the name IN SESSION.

It should be an interesting show. The guys who filmed it suck terribly at skiing/snowboarding, it was very entertaining watching them be idiots. They were at Crystal the whole winter filming.

"In episode one, a young man faces paralysis after taking a ski pole

to the chin while attempting a difficult stunt." Thats complete bullshit, I kind of know this kid. He's a racer and tried to do a 720 off this really small jump and ended up stabbing himself in the chin with his pole.

my god what a boring premise for a show, what happens in episode 3? Patroler Steve side steps the run under the lift to retrive Ms. Weekend Skier's dropped pole. Episode 4, ski patrol adjusts a fence.

the crazy thing is, is that immediately after i clicked reply on my last post in here, i stepped away from the computer and a commercial for this show was on haha. and i saw the commercial, and confirmed my earlier sentiments. dumb.

Also, one young girl shatters her wrist after a spill on the mountain but falls even harder for the patroller who helps her.

hahahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahhahahahahhhahahh

HA

they should film this in PA, because we get wierd accidents, like some kid getting his arm stuck under the magic carpet.

that would be entertaining.

I worked for this show for a while when they filmed at Blue Mountain. Should be real interesting to see how otherwise mundane events get hyped up. One night they were trying to get patrol to bust a whole busload of people who rode down a "closed trail." Sooooo clownish. Twenty patrollers standing around with their arms crossed looking sternly at fifteen confused college kids.

haha i actually laughed out loud at that comment...but if its anything like that huntington beach patrol show its gonna suck

this looks like a kinda cool show. but there will be mad gapers in the show cause those are really the only people who get hurt a lot.

in the tv ad, there is one gaper being yelled at saying "I was born for speed".

this shits gunna be mad funny

Wow, I ski at blue and there is like this mile long green called Paradise. Anyway one afternoon me and my buddies were ripping down the trail, even though it is always noob fest...and next thing you know we are getting whistled at by a patroller and his film crew, off course not thinking it through we continued flying by him and jumping on the lift barely escaping the crew. Anyway, didn't remember they ahd radio's, so they nabbed us at the top and took away my pass for a week on camera. Hope it doesn't end up on tv because I still never told my mom about it, I just "happened to have a sprained ankle" that week!!

They were at Blue Mountain in Pennsylvania filming the whole thing over the last season. I was on ski patrol there and the camera crew's were all over the place. It should be interesting, and embarrasing for a lot of it because of how much they bullshitted stuff.

Haven't seen any commercials for it though...we don't get cable = [

/claim

yeah I haven't seen any commericals yet either, but are you still a skier from Blue mountain or was that your home mountain, because your pictures are all from other places

thats fucking terrible. let me tell you guys, i patrol at plattekill mountian in ny, and we are not "part cops". this sort of perception is really bad for the patrol, out of everyone i know, none of us are on the mountain to ruin anyones good time. we're not out to bust people or pull passes.

we do this for three reasons

1. to help people, first and foremost

2. to ski for free

3. to get mad discounts on awesome shit

i dont like to think that i'm part cop just because i volunteer my time to help at accidents. i duck ropes and build jumps just like anyone else.

No now I live in Breckenridge. But as far as why i patrolled, I did it for a free pass and to actually help people, just like this guy up here /\

I was on it with my Dad for a while, and while a lot of the time it was hella fun there's always people that are there just to be on some type of a power trip. I've never yelled at someone or pulled a pass in my life, and ever since I was able to think for myself I ducked tape and outran the patrol at other mountains, including my own.

Idk who watched it last night.

but it is a really shitty portrail of ski patrol

. . . . . .running and jumping into bindings???

SOOOOOOOOOO GAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This show is absolutely amazing and really captures some priceless moments:

-The kid calling a ski patroller a dick for wrecking his jump-The less than enthusiastic girlfriend really acting like she was concerned when her boyfriend was caught in an avalanche.

This show is television reality gold. The shittier the content, the more entertaining it is for me.
Long live TRU TV!

ski patrol at my hill in ontario definitely think they're cops you cant do anything without being questioned its bullshit
