Ski patrol sucks so much

so me and my friend are skiing down a ski patrol are talknig to 2 of my other friends and we stopped to listen he was being real cool he was just like if you want to go in the woods just make sure you have 3 people just incase someone gets hurt and 1 person can seek help and the other can stay with the hurt person. so he he didint care we skied down the other kids left so me and my friend go in the same unmarkerd trail ( no lollypops, no signs saying dont skis in here or stuff like that) we ski through theres a ski patrol at the bottom we say fuck. we go down to him

ski patroler- you guys know this is not a trail, and you know you shouldent be skiing it

ski patroler- are those passes ?

friend and i- yes, we show him

ski patroler- alright, im bringing this to the office( are names)

ski: patroler if it happens again i will personaly escort you to the main office and well see what they have to see about you skiing a closed marked trail ( no signs of anything saying it was not a trail)

me: sorry sir,

ski patroler: sir ? why are you callnig me sir, and your not sorry, you know you shouldent be skiing theses trails

me: because im being repectfull to you, and i understand

ski patroler- you know you dont ski the woods

me; sorry

ski patroler- left

what an asshole do you seriously think that was okay for him to do ?

 
He was trying to do his job, but from what you said it sounded like he was being an asshole when he didnt accept the apology. -1 for ski patrollers on that one.
 
ah... no if that is accually like the convo that went down he was way out of line since its his job and he shouldn't go to some teenager and say no ur not sorry and fucking put words in your mouth... i would have taken it man.. i would have told him there was no signs posted saying stay out...

lol i would have told him to go fuck himself and ill go out west where there are some real ski patorl that culd more than likely accually save my life..

idk i dont hate ski patorl but i hate ski patorl that hates on park riders.. for snowboarder or ski patorl.. its BS ... i had a ski patorl tell me i was a punk when i was in the lift line when i was laughin with my buddy.. im like ah... what? and he is like you guys are all punks.. im like ahhah wtf dude.. to my buddy... we couldnt believe it.. lol and then we see him skiin down and its funny becuase they are horrible skiers! im from WI so maybe its just fucking fat WI ski patorl...

i didnt wanna tell him this ski patroler said it was fine cuz then we woulda had to go find the guy tal kto both of them didint feel like gettign into more trouble. i told him it wasaent marked and he slike i know you know this is not a skiable trail but whatever, they do hate on park riders alot
 
ive been passed by a racer when i was carving down a trail just goin kinda slow linking big carved turns, a partroler is at the bottom and stops me saying i was going WAY to fast and must have been out of controle if i was going that speed(not even that fast).

When i brought up the fact that the racer was going faster then me he said it was ok because he was obviously a better skiier and could controle himself at that speed...That'll get ya pissed

theres a guy up here who is so gnarly he even gos threw the park with me and did a three well on duty.

he even talked me into doing a spred eagle line with him. he is the shit
 
Exactly, as much as some of them can suck sometimes the mtns would be fucked without them...At least they are never assholes when they are saving your life
 
nah dude i say fuck them. On sat i was skiing and i was getting into line and i slipped on ice and fell on a ski patrolers skis and i got up and said i was really sorry. So as we were in line he came up to me pushing me saying i really resent the fact you didnt look into my eyes when you said you were sorry. so i just sat there and i was like okay old man im sorry. get outta my face.
 
ski patrol at breck are chill....except people are gay there...i swear i rode up the lift with people either from texas or florida-complete gapers....but if they give the resorts full price then im fine with that..-makes the park better..
 
i didnt wanna do anything back cause i have a season pass there and it would have been worse losing that. I was pissed though
 
the reason they get pissed at you is because part of their job is to prevent injuries, i agree they can be dicks at times but thats no reason to rag on them all the time. like nomensteven said above, you wont be calling them assholes when you get hurt and need them to help you off the hill
 
Alright, these threads are getting really old. Yeah, occasionally you'll encounter a salty patroller that will stereotype kids in baggy pants. But can you really place all the blame on him? From what I've seen here (and on the hill), they deal with entirely too much attitude and mindless hate from kids who think patrol owes them something. I know this is the best place to go if you want people to jump in and hate someone you don't like, but it's really unnecessary and will accomplish absolutely nothing. Ski patrol has way better things to do than talk to high school kids, so if they're irritated it's probably because they really shouldn't need to talk to you. Just think before you do something you know other people won't like and it'll work out.
 
exactly, its not cool to act all rebel and try to be a bitch to the ski patrollers, sometimes they can do stuff which is pretty lame but overall if you fuck yourself up in the park or anywheres else they're ultimately going to be the ones that are going to help save you

so don't be a douche when they tell you something you don't like that isn't completely unresonable (and by completely unreasonable i mean something like what happened w/ curtis getting his pass pulled - that was a load of bs)
 
your an idiot. he was just doing his job. if he said it was a closed trail than it obviously was. but no wait, all ski patrollers like to make things up because they think it is fun to get random kids in trouble. check the rules..at my mountain anything that isn't groomed is considered out of bounds and you are not supposed to be there. I'll almost gaurantee there is something like that. they don't have to go around and mark off every trail just because dumb asses like you want to be rebels and ski down them

I actually duck ski patrol as crack dealers duck cops. Every single day I have run-ins.

To strike back, I ollied onto the porch of the ski patrol hut, and skied down there wooden stairs. They called in for backup and confronted me, but I denied it, because "Snitchins fo bitches"
 
im on ski patrol at plattekill mountain, and if anybody on my patrol was that much of an ass, i would personally beat the fuck out of them. some ski patrollers who are left over from the '50s are this idiotic, but most of us are pretty chill. i can understand why your pissed though, but some people are assholes who will try to ruin your day no matter what, they just enjoy mindless authority. for the most part though, almost all the patrol ive ever met regard fixing people as their first priority, and pulling passes as other peoples job
 
One of my 8th grade teachers is a ski patrol at my mountian. He was a pretty cool guy and he doesnt really seem like he would be an asshole on the mountian.
 
the ski patrol are 50/50 at my hill... some are cool and chill and some are comeplete hardasses.

some if they see you skiing glades (not allowed at my hill), will just tell you to leave. others will take your pass. some will take your pass for skiing switch (ridicoulous), some will cheer me on.

its sick/horrible
 
are you talking about all that new shit that they cut? I asked a ski popo what the deal was and he said just make sure i don't get hurt
 
what the hell, at my mountain the ski patrol dont give a shit were you go. you could go out of bounds alone and they wouldent do anything.
 
ya...my hills pretty whack too...skiing glades is strictly forbidden, but theres no signs or notices to say that. One time a couple years back, my brother, two friends, and I went to my hill on a powder day(about 1.5 feet which is alot for around here) and theres this trail with some sick woods runs that we make....and about halfway down the slope, it turns 90 degrees and theres a nice 8-10 foot cliff drop accessible from one of our woods trails....so were jibbing this cliff and what not, and we are literally the only people on the whole hill besides ski patrol/mountain ops because its a week day and our school was the only one in the area that had off. So im about to do the drop, i have my bro looking uphill to see if anyones skiing down so i dont hit them on the landing, and i do a simple 180 off of it. Out of nowhere, comes a ski patroller, but not a normal one. This guy is skiing freaking pie down the hill trying to get to me, hes yelling for me not to go anywhere, then he falls! Yes, i got yelled at by a ski patroller who couldnt even ski! how was he even hired? He was telling me that if i fell in the woods since no one else was on the slope i wouldnt be able to be helped, but my 3 broskis were right there. He also said that jumping from that height(8-10 feet) was fatal, and i was lucky to not have broken both my legs and neck....at this point i start laughing because i think he is joking, but then he gets uber pissed and takes my pass...i know ski patrollers are just trying to do their jobs, but who the fuck is allowing a patroller who cant even make it down a green circle slope tell me anything about skiing?
 
He probably has some medical knowledge which is half of the reason that they get hired in the first place, reguardless of how they ski
 
yeah, there's no reason to keep proving their point by being a pain in the ass back to them.

p.s. if more freeskiers join ski patrol you get free passes and there will be laess hating from both sides

 
my generic story:

Patrol: Where is your pass? (its hidden in my pocket when I am ob - which is rare bcause it is generally dangerous)

ME: I don't have one, I have a lift ticket but I lost it in the woods, I took a fall and ripped my pants. Show the patroller, all my clothes are ripped and stained.

Patroller: See how unsafe it is, what if you would have broke your leg?

Me: I know! I am scared to death and get your point, sorry it took this for me to realize.

Patroller: That is right bitch, now go have a great day.

Me: Thanks sir. (put my pass back on, go in the gondi and puff - do it again.)

Let them have there power trip, agree with them but hold your confidence, don't let them ask you any more questions than they absolutely have to, and let them do their job and then move on and don't let it bother you.

Here in colorado, if it is closed it is for pretty good reason in most cases.

 
even though tht patroller is an asshole, they saved some snowbaorder yesterday at the Wa, and a bunch of racers
 
I have read a bunch of threads about this. At first I thought you guys were just being dramatic and over sensitive, but it does seem like patrol in the east and midwest are a little jerky to the park rats and younger guys. Thats too bad. I live in Colorado and patrol here is pretty chill. They actually encourage progression. My friend and I were ducking a rope last year right next to the patrol shack and one of them stopped me and I thought "great now I need to have an encounter", but he just wanted to make sure we knew what we were doing and that we had the proper gear. I assured him we did and he said,"cool, well have fun, the snow looks good out there!"
 
A lot of resorts consider the trees as a natural boundry, if that is the case it's your fault for not knowing. Stop bitching, the guy didnt take your pass he just gave you a warning. Those guys take a lot of shit from stupid people and people thinking that dont have to fallow rules. He was doing his job, get over it.
 
considering how many ns threads are devoted to people talking about how gangster and badass they think they are, It does make a little sense that the patrolers sometimes think you're trying to be a pain in the ass.
 
yeah, he was an a-hole, but his job is to save lives and if he has to be an a-hole to get his point across then let it be
 
haha this reminds me of 3 days ago when my friends and i were building this sick kicker in the pow and we just hear a voice out of nowhere say STOP STOP RIGHT NOW but we dont see anyone so we are like whatever and keep building the jump and then this guy appears from nowhere like a freakin magician with this other ski patrol teenager and tells us to tear it down and he gave us "a warning" on our passes (wow whats that gonna do) my friend got his pass pulled because he told the guy f u but the teenager ski patrol guy was like dont listen to that guy he is a di** (are we aloud to cuss in the forum? didnt read rules sorry) and told us a cooler place to build a jump.

so.......the moral of my story is some ski patrol guys are total di** but most are tight here in cali.
