im in the market for new ski pants. Are there any brands that i should steer clear of, or any that are exceptionally good?

I have Bonfire Orage and Helly pants (all guys models) and I would suggest any of those brands... Helly has a really nice shell i dont remeber what they are called but they have their reflex system in 'em .... super comfy!

oakley for sure - i'm sporting a pair of k2's right now and they're actually really good. lots of pockets, nice and bulky, you can wear them real low, comfertable... and um, i guess that's it.

My bonfire pants are really nice. Keep you warm and comfy and to me that's what matters. I'm sure my next pair of pants will be oakleys though cuz they look super stylie and everyone I know that has em loves em.

 
DUB is awsome. but, they were bought out and shut down, if you can find them, get the dolbys. they are good in hot and cold weather.

my oakley lab pants are really nice bc they have vents for hot days and they have a reinforced back so that when u sit on a wet lift u dont feel it

 
no question - go with Levis. make sure you get em tight though. also, it looks real sick if you tuck them into rear entry boots.

Wranglers, there made for wrestlin steers, plus you can get the boot fit ones, there tight in the balls and legs, but the bottoms are just big enough to fit over ski boots. that way you can represent with the cowboy style.

I have to agree with penguino and everyone else out there wearin fate. i skied with him literally all season and he never complained not ONCE....just usually bragged about how warm he was while i was freezing my butt off in stupid sessions pants in the words of gary 'sessions makes good stuff, but the snowboarding stuff is just plain shitty' or something like that. But yah, moral to the story: sessions kind of sucks, and fate kind of rules....from what i hear
