Ski near boulder

So, I am probably gonna go to CU, but of course, one of the big reasons I wanna choose a school by is the skiing near it... So, where would one go?

I luv winter park w/ all of the bumps and stuff, but I would think that would be a long drive.

eldora is 30 mins. or you can drive 1.5 hours to summit county.

I really don't recomend El Dora

Ski Wasted State and earn adegree in your spare time. Hell it only took me 13 years.

i.e. Western state College Gunnison, CO

Vail, Beaver Creek, Breck, Keystone, Abasin, Copper, Winter park are all within 2 hours of CU

If you are interested in building ur own park there is this place called caribou about the same distance from boulder as eldo. Its just some place where a lot of people have set up rails and built jumps over the course of the winter. It is convenient because u can pretty much drive within 100 yards of all the jumps and such. It doesnt make up for a season pass, but its cool if u dont have a whole day. I wood definitly recomend getting a pass to eldo if u are going to CU though just cause it is close and u can take the bus there. It is small but not as everyone makes out. Especially since it doesnt really seem to snow anywhere in norhtern colorado anymore. I think if u are a CU student u can get like a $99 dollar eldo pass.

powder.....

Every weekend CU has busses that go up to Breck/Keystone. If you join the Herd (like $15 a semester) you can get free seats on them. about a 2 hr ride3 give or take.

Like others said El Dora is closest, you can hop some public bus there, (you get a free bus pass while you're a student). Of the bigger resorts I believe Winter Park is the closest, then after that all the Summit County ones are about the same.

Let me tell you about El Dora's park.... the jumps are shaped terribly with big boots and little tables ( =death ) and their rails, in the 'bone yard', are weak as hell and placed terribly. Half pipe = shit. dont bother

Im not even sure if eldo is ever going to have a pipe again. They decided to blow snow on muleshoe again rather than making a pipe, so im not sure about next year.

powder.....

dont even bother with eldora, shitty as hell, but its better than nothing. i skid there once a week on ur schools ski team last year, havent gone since. everything else is 2-3 hours away up 70

2-3 hours? you guys must drive like pussies. loveland is the closest 'major' resort. you can get to copper in an hour and ten.

beep's right, it's not that far, especially on weekdays w/o traffic. sometimes (like 2 weeks ago) eldora gets pounded when summit and winterpark get nothing

i ski winter park all the time... 1 hr 15 mins from boulder once u get used to driving the berthoud pass area.
