Ski Movies lacking?

After viewing most of the ski flicks last year i felt that the editing was kinda wack. dont get me wrong all the skiers are pushin it to a new level every year, but i think that the filmmakers are lacking. Everyyear the same filmmaker makes the same the movie they made the year before, with just updated footage. I think the best progressive video as far as videos go was stereotype, cus they came out with some new shit. But then again, the stuff in that was all bitten out of skateboard, snowboard, and even inline flicks. I think ski movies in general need to get more creative and get more variety in editing.

Im an not afraid to say that snowboarding, skating, inline, and other vids are many levels up the editing and filming of ski films. These are my personal feelings towards what needs to change in order for me to like ski movies again.

basically we need more creativity in the ski industry not just some replica bullshit and same thing everyyear. I hve a feeling it will start to get better tho.

 
i also don't understnad, it seems there is almost a 'season' for release dates on ski films?

Yeah i liked how sterotype did their own thing and i sort of liked how salad days was done but most of the other movies arn't really ground breaking as far as editing goes. just i think thier needs to be more character in the films.

I think Salad days sucked. Well, it didn't suck per-say, but it was the worst movie that I've seen.

I fully agree that ski vids have a long way to go as far as creativity goes. The very few skate movies that I have seen are so unique that going back to ski movies can be a bit boring. The skiers are pushing themselves and the tricks are getting bigger and better, I'd like to see movies go the same way too. I'd hope with the creation of new productions companies someone will break the mold and give us something new. Here's hoping.

what are you talking abuout ? salad days was so sick in its editing...i love it, i seriously dont get why sooo many people hate on TGR but anyway, yea steryotyope had some really goood editing too ...by the way if you want to see a fucking amazing skate movie...modus operandi is just mindblowing, the first rail the guy does will blow away most of the shit that skiers or even snowboarders have done

MSP has the best music to trick editing skills by far. its just hard to pick up on cuz it flows so well. watch frontline and the music they choose and what tricks are done to what parts of the song are a perfect match every time and some times like each 180 of a crazy switch rodeo 9 for example will correspond to a beat in the song, its sweet, just gotta listen. just gotta get rid of the swollen members now and they are straight (fuckin 3 songs in frontline)

i think snowboarding videos are better put together than ski videos...the whole snowboard industry is better put together in the ski industry....theres more money in snowboarding..

There are so many skate and snowboard filmers because thier sports are so huge. There is enough talent and demand for it too. To get noticed, those filmers have to be more creative. Skiing just needs more money and people involved in before it can really progress. I am not saying ski movies have a long way to go, but I say give it two or three years, and things should really take off. I dunno, but that is my personal take on it.

know what would be real neato? a video with TEAM sections instead of single dudes. im talking an intire team sessioning something in one shot, getting creavite with some tag team action. i do beleive the armada team would destroy. either them or line.. or dynastar.. or salomon.. or yep.

as far as getting creative with filming, heli-shots are my favourites. also follow cams. the the heli-shot follow cam they do in the sm3 trailor of cr's bio 1080. yeah.

i duno, the reason why they are lacking is cause there are only so many ways you can show or express the same thing over and over, think about it. take a painting for example..just one painting, how many ways are there that you can show it, not many. same goes for skiing and other sports as well, after a while it's all been done and becomes repetetive until someone has a ingenious breakthrough

i think tanners section in ski movie 3 was the best edited section ever

Yeh I think that editing could be a bit better but give it time the industry needs time to grow... I found the approach to Strike 3 good. The editing wasn't that special but the amounnt of urban jibs was pretty cool.

I liked Scandalous cuz there were little sections where they showed the skiiers partying, drinking, being asses, and just having fun...it just made the movie funner to watch..

 
watch the snowboard movie Vivid, then watch what you think the best ski movie ever is, then compare, anything will pale in comparison to some snowboard movies

 
Did anyone watch the trailer to happy days? That was awesome- different music and well edited but the actual film wasn't that good. It was pretty much the same as propaganda.
