I can offer a little insight on why ski mags don't do summer issues. Most advertising in ski magazines comes from within the ski industry, and the ski companies don't believe people buy products after christmas. Snowboard mags get a lot of shoe and lifestyle apparel ads (DC, DVS, Etnies, etc), and snowboard companies seem to have a better attitudes toward year-round riding. We're doing our best to convince the industry that skiing has become a year-round passion (saw some kids hitting a kicker the the Crested Butte backcountry just this weekend), but as always, it's a slow process.
