Ski Liberty

i was hardly at liberty this year because of college, but i wanted to know who is steppin it up there... oh yeah and when liberty is all you got its betetr than nothing sorry that mid east skiing is shitty but its what we have to work with so work with it

301.. quit hating... cant we all get along.. you know a wise man once said when your on top everyones trying to knock you down... vive liberty and as for who rips at liberty... everyone because we dont have haters.. everyone there is there to ride with everyone we ont have the "roundtop riders" or the "wisp crew" we dont discriminate so ride wisp if you want to// but dont hate we dont want you here any way

agreed..roundtop is becoming more along the lines of no hating..there are still a few but its becoming a lot better..its chill..

im not saying the people at liberty suck it seems like the people there are chill its the mountain that sucks and thats not there fault. they have pretty shitty weather all year and get like no snow. i just think it sucks because even though the mountain is pretty bad, you still pay like 45 for a lift ticket

ha ha matt you know that RT breeds haters it is just the way it is. the atmosphere promotes it.

fuck team tuna HA

Matt, I think you should state that you work for Roundtop so you have a biased opinion. Roundtop (and to some extent Liberty) have a terrible track record of supporting pipe and park. I've been going to both since 1988 and it's always been a struggle (with the exception of a few years) to get their management to see value in it. At Roundtop especially, their management has adopted a policy of providing the absolute minimum to park and pipe riders and since they (Roundtop and Liberty) are a monopoly in this area, they can get away with that because there really isn't anywhere else to go without a few hours of travel. In years past we got better commitments because the park and pipe riders banded together to force changes. One of the biggest problems now is that there are a small group of ass kissers who management can point to as 'satisfied customers' which allows them to continue the current policy of minimalism.

i dont have a biased opinion..im just stating that if you dont have the opportunity to travel like a lot of younger kids liberty, roundtop and whitetail are fine for riding..its snow..if you are older or your parents are willing to travel to other mountains with you by all means spend your money at other places better..

yeah i don't pay

liberty has shit that can be sessioned pretty well... a decent jump or two each year... and rails although most are ride on or there abouts the possibilities are still there for some 27s and pretzels... hell a wall ride that sometimes is set up... there are worse mountains... parks theres is better than a lot of mountains that size.

roundtop. i haven't been there since two of their "runs" were open in december
whitetail. haven't been there since i was in middle school

^^both are pretty rough and could be better

The thing is that ravel is all well and good. my issue is that if you have to stay at your local mountain and they aren't stepping up, don't accept the status quo! If you pay money to ride at a mountain you have the right to complain if you aren't satisfied. that's just business. it so typical of the RT ass kiss brigade to label anyone who dares to criticize as complainers. Pretty standard there...instead of working to make things better, just discredit your detractors.

Boo fuckin hoo. Round top is tight, Liberty is tight. Who care's man it's nearly impossible to get away from high ticket prices now adays. Your skiing in pennsylvania, what do you excpect. And I have never ever run into any haters at any of these mountains including whisp, big boulder, and other surrounding state ski resorts. The only place I will personally bash on with no remorse is mountain creek. FUCK mountain creek.

yeah i will agree that $50 is a bit much for the size of the mountains but if your into spending close to $100 in gas to go to 7springs or snowshoe or more to go to vermont with better parks then pay $70 for a lift ticket and more money for a room to stay the night, then by all means go do it. as for the difference between complainers and haters... well, i have been working at either whitetail or liberty for the past 13 years. the past 5 as libertys park groomer and if you think for one second the changes that have taken place over the past 10 years came easily, your sorrily fucking mistaken.. alot of work and sacrifice has gone into trying to keep up with the "norm". shit that you couldnt understand and would never comprehend, and the fact that unfortunately it just doesnt work like that.. you cant get everyone together and go on strike and expect to see something happen... it's not a dictatorship its a business. its all about money and even though the parks bring in committed skiers and riders who ride first day to last day, they make more money on tubing and learn to ski packages. so in conclusion before you go hating and spouting off about things you dont know.. educate yourself. thanks for the podium and thanks for the the support of all non-haters

oooooohhhh 13 years!!!! fuck off you are just part of the halfassism machine that is snowtime inc. i have been involved with Roundtop now for 28 years in some form or another. they live by the status quo and i am sick of it. i am not a hater ( well yea i am, that was transitioned after about 22 years of tring to help) but i want my complaints to be heard. and for the past ten years everytime i have complianed t i have offered solutions. dont think for one minute icant understand or comprehend you simple minded prick, i know what goes into those decisions. it is the solutions that go unheard and managment that goes on defiesive instead of looking at things differently. i understand the money coming in from beginners and tubing. it is hard to substantially grow that business year over year. what i have have told RT many times is that yeah they should have a beginner growth goal everyear buy all means whether that be 5 6% what ever but they should also have a goal in increasing continued revenue and that goal could be much higher since there is so much room for growth. we are the ones that come on shitty days open to close. we are the ones that push the mountains to be better. look at boreal they only have 600 vertical ibn the middle of tahoe. there are some of the best mountains in the world there and people go to this little shithole because it has a great park.

so mister liberty groomer, here is my request of you. dont go getting pissy when people complain about fetures in the park or the park set up. do your job and listen to the customer and try to make them happy. people complain for a reason, it is not a personal attack if you all would take a minute open your ears and listen instead of getting offend things would be better.

so in conclusion before you go hating and spouting off about things you dont know..

Oh yeah?? Piss off. I've been PAYING to ride Roundtop for 20 years and for much of that time i had been working with the mt to get things done. I helped build one of the first parks in the area (the original bunker hill) on my own time with no pay. for most the the first 10 years, worf, myself and some other dedicated riders used to hand shovel the entire halfpipe every weekend, and many of us spend alot of time in the off season working with snowtime on pipe and park issues. Remember the ulitmate rider series mr 13 years? well, worf and i created that series and made it a huge success at RT before snowtime mgmt took it to all mountains and ruined it. every year for hte last 3 or 4 ears, RT has been talking a great game before the season about all the cool stuff they are going to do, but when the temps fall they don't deliver. that is called bait and switch and it pisses people off who pay good money for passes. snowtime in general has no concept of the customer and you validate that. they do great at beginners but what happens when the beginners get better? they leave for better mountains. think about what the areas could do if they retained all those intermediate and advanced pass buyer dollars?

I'm calling bullshit. They can do so much more but they don't. at RT they have to rush to get '100 percent open' which means the pipe is 'open' with 4 foot walls. the parks are 'open' but with small jumps. if mgmt was committed they would allow the crews more time to make more snow, groom better, etc. in fact, grooming is a huge complaint and (expect in rare cases) is not weather dependent. grooming sucks because the groomer are directed to hit the regular slopes and tubing instead of the parks and pipes. also, there are plenty of cold days and nights where guns are blasting the other slopes but not the pipes and parks. explain that one?

why don't you e-mail mountain management? the only way things get done is if you complain to them directly... sorry, but none of them are going to get on here and read your newschooler rants.

thats how it was at whitetail, now they are finally putting in a park lift.

and as for blasting on the other slopes.. i wish they would focus all the snow on the park too. but i guess not everyone in the 4 state region is a park rat like us

Oh, I've emailed (politely) mgmt, written letters, organized riders meetings, given whole summers of free work, etc, etc in my 25 years of season passes at RT. they just don't get it. it sounds like WT is more enlightenment the RT so you're lucky there.

The thing about the blasting parks is meant to refute your statement about weather. that's an all to convenient excuse by mgmt and i for one am tired of it. it's especially infuriating when i shill out 500 plus dollars of my own money year after year to see them give a piss poor effort and then try to explain it away with weather. There are legitimate weather issues for sure but it's way to easy to blame weather instead of working hard to create a good experience for your customers.

Management isn't the best at Roundtop like Blake said but with that being said, were trying to work around it. I have been trying to contact Dudding about the fall rail jam (September 5th) at twin ponds since they gave the okay but he has not responded..it makes me mad when im trying but its not working!

my advice to all who ride at Lib, RT, or W-tail.

-Don't bitch about shitty features b/c some really good riders have come out of these hills. Sean Kelly, Steve Stepp, Nate Sheehan, and a few others.

-The park manager who has been working at lib for the past 8 years or whatever has bent over backwards for all of you that ride there to try and build the latest features and keep it up to date. So don't EVER hate on that man. Especially because personally I feel like Liberty mountain has it the hardest in terms of what we can or cant build b/c we have the head of safety director Lonny Whitcomb here trying to make this mountain the "safest" which means more beginner influenced features.

and Worf or whoever you are. I don't give a fuck if you have been invovled with RT for 28 something years. B/c no one cares. Clearly you haven't changed a thing while you were there. So for the people that bitch about "shitty" features can shove it up there ass b/c this is about all managment will let us do. Plus how old are you like 50? seriously go voice your opinion to someone that will actually care instead of hanging out on a forum full of kids. Also don't ride there if you're going to complain about this shit. Only you have the power to get your ass up and make a step in a different direction. Don't chill here and complain.

Idiot.

I ride liberty from time to time when I don't want to drive to boulder or springs. Not the biggest jumps or the best features, but you can usually get pretty creative. The line that was skiers right of the lift wasn't too bad. Bigger jumps would be great, but I can't complain because they put a lot of effort in an area with about 10 inches of natural snowfall a year and little interest in freestyle.

exactly, literally that is pretty much all we got this year. The rest of it was man made, and which the weather being sortof crappy it was hard to blow enough snow to make bigger jumps. There were a few days in the season though that we had a pretty legit jumps.

And yeah the urban style down t-box to flat box to barrell to butter box was a fun little line to play on. If that is what you are talking about. I was disapointed that we didn't not get to mix things up to much this year. Better luck next I guess.

hell yeah im at roundtop every monday wed thursday and sunday same with lib not so much whitetail. but yeah may not be no snowmass or whistley but its home.

you forgot a few but i will forgive you. and where do thesse great riders go when they get good. away from PA and do you know why they are so good when they get out west. because setups out there are legit. they were so used to riding crappy bullshit that when you put them out there on great terrain they own. again though it is not an assult on park managers or builders. it is an assult on Snowtime mngt that doesnt give those people the resources to put a superior product on the hill.

and you should wacth what you say about things you have no clue of. go voice my opinion to someone who cares. my point is mgnt doesnt care. they rather refund my pass there year then make things right.

who are you and what have you done. my reoputation is well imbedded at RT i have helped progress snowboarding from its infancy. i have put more man hours into parks and pipes at roundtop probably then you've been on snow. i still get deals from company's for who i am, and what i have done.

all i am trying to say is that written complaints have not worked, verbal complaints have not worked. i want to be heard so hit them where it hurts the most. if i can detract customers from spending money at snow time resorst they may send a message. rigthh now i would like anyone thinking of going to RT LIB or WT to go to boulder. they have a progressive managment that caters to park. they take critcism and make things better.

look worf, we don't question your investment in Pennsylvania as far as time and energy. But also, you need to give kretz some credit; he's spent 3 years(maybe 4?) working on the park crew at liberty, and

the park has improved leaps and bounds since then. No, i'm not saying it is solely due to him, but the park crew as a whole has really stepped up and made it enjoyable to ride there.

it is no where near boulder, but considering the mgmt and the location, that park is damn good. I have fun every time i ride there. wt and rt, it can be fun, and it can be disasterous.

And this new guy at whitetail seems legit, and eager to actually do his job. plus they got that double chair running up the park now.

you just made my point for me, why is it no where near boulder? its not because the groomers cant build it, they are not allowed to cause of management. i am not detracting from them or saying they are doing anything wrong. i am attacking snowtime managment for handcuffing them and taking a half assed attitude towards parks. i think joe, kretz , and the wt guy are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. my point is that what they have to work with is shitty, and that is wha tsucks. in rt case how can joes design a good set up if management doesnt blow snow in the park when they can. it is things mlike that that piss me off. or have the park builders grooming the rest of the mountain giving them limited time to reset the parks. this it what sucks and this is why it hink people need to complain about.

didn't hear bout a new chair at w-tai thats sick but where they putting it in the trees between homerun and the park aka lower angel

i was just thinkin we should say fuck the park staff. well the bitches at the j-bar lift who make us all fucking hold onto the thing cuz we cant sit on it what the fuck.

are you retarded? you cant sit on the liberty j bar it will mess it up..just hold onto it like everyone else does...it gets to high off the ground and you cant sit on it or it will mess the track up or something. get some muscles and hold on..liberty is great and the park staff kills it

haha I havent been there since that sick slopestyle we did there matt, they still got the park on that real small run?

yeeeahhh liberty is still always a fun park to ride though..

and ben whats your plans for this year? i got a new HDV camcorder and my new computer comes tomorrow so i will want a ton of footage from yo ass this year

yea was still pretty fun haha. The kids up there are super chill.

not sure yet, Ive been workin hard at phys therapy trying to get my knee better, should be good to go by winter, it'll take me a little bit to catch up tho haha. Not sure how much time ill be in co for but i'll be on the east for a while too so yea hit me up
