Ski lengths and sizing

I'm getting new skis for the upcoming season and I've pretty much already decided on a pair of bluehouse MR. they come in 171cm and 179cm. im 5'8" or roughly 173cm. my question is what size should I go for? my last pair of skis were rossi scratch pros in 158, I had them for 2 yrs and they're way too small now.

I would do the 179 if you are riding a lot of pow. I am 5 8 150 and i ride the 179 seths at a +3. Works out real well!

I wish! not much pow here on the east coast. I should have added that I ski mostly in VT, steeps, ice, lots of trees and moguls and of course park too. point being I don't do all park. and weight is like 135, 140 I think. at +3? so ahead of center? I was thinking I'll probably just mount 'em normally, behind center this time.

I was thinking 171 because my old skis barely reached my nose, and the 179 will be a good 5 cm above my head.

wow. 158's!

i have a question also, not to high jack your thread, but i searchbarred and its the most recent on ski length.

I'm 5'3". I have pocket rockets in 165s, is this normal for my height? reading up on what other people ski i would say they're on the long side. what size is a good size for my height?

dude go with the 179... you'll grow into it. more edge will help you on the east coast ice. they will be more stable at speeds. on the occasional pow day the extra surface area will float you better. and they are bambo so they are wicked like which means you wont have to worry about the swing weight in the park.
