ski length

..so from a previous post someone got me thinking...

instead of having two skis, why not just consolidate 2 pairs of skis into one.

(motherships and sprangs into pollard pros)

this solution is a great one...except one twist..

the pollards only come in 186 and im thinking that may be to long. the longest ski i have ever used was a 178. i got used to it with little to no hassle. but 186 is a significant amount larger.

i am only 5'4' when barefoot and concerned that 186 would handicap my riding.

any other short riders with long skis? experiences?

5'9 188's and 182's. im not as short as you but big skis are fun when you get use to them.... pollards only like 5'8 or 5'9... maybe like the 176 scratch bc's... then have almost the dame dimensions and are 176 which sounds perfect... the 176 bc is only 86 underfoot just like the ep pro

I can probably acclimate nicely to 186's but I'm a bit hesitant to give it a try, ya know?

the 186s will run about:

6.1023622 feet :) thats a good 6 inches above my head!!

Ive had horrible experiences with any of the scratch skis..they have all delammed on me so quickly...

looks like its back to two skis for what i want...could be worse.

thanks for the insight

there lot's of other skis, that would accomidate. Ie shorter fat skis. 5'4 186cm ski? that's just silly in my opinoin...unless you want to striaght line at 300mph and not be able to turn without a major hassle. It's not like a shorter ski won;t float you in pow... you don;t need a ski that long. Ex of good skis other than rossi's if you don't like them= Armada ARV 175. Mad Trix Mojo 176, 179 Seth Pistols, 4Frnt MSP 180. Salomon Pocket Rockets 175, Mo ship 172 or 182... a couple extra mm Underfoot (more than the 86 on the EP pro) Will make up for floatation since there a bit shorter, and will be alot easyier to throw around. That's my take and what i would do, and that ski list continues... do some research and find out what you like in a ski, then narrow it down , and attempt to give them a try if it is at all possible.

i decided on the 176 sprangs. its a bit narrow compared to the moships (running at 78mm instead of the 98mm) but I feel it will suffice. If i really need a super fat ski, then I will turn around and pick up a pair of moships.

186 is way to long for me. as much as i like going 300mph, its always nice to take in SOME scenery :)

So far lines are the only skis i havent blown up and since that holds true, Im going to stick with them until i do... heh

i ski quite a bit of powder - which is why i will get some moships when i can afford em. i figure if i build up two pairs of skis starting now in sept, by the time the good stuff starts falling from the sky, ill have my all mountain skis good to go and my powder skis good to go. bring em both when i head to the mountain and ill be set..

and ive already owned a pair of mike nicks and a pair of ghetto blasters...neither have delamed to a fraction of what the scracthes did. i had to barely glare at the scratches and they started to peel away...

who cares how tall you are....how much do you weigh?

Oh, by the way. I'm 175lbs and ski 175 Pocket rockets, 180 Crossmax's, and the new addition this is 175 Salomon X-tra hots....

Todays skis are stiffer longitudenally and latterally, which creates better stability. I don't ski at mach 10, but ski fast enough. If you're a big mtn. guru go a bit bigger, say 185 ish.

186's would be way to big for ya man.. i'm 6'1' 235 and i am dumping my 187 machettes,, too long,, i'm an east coaster and spent almost the whole year 175 PR's,,

my everydays skis this year wont be any bigger than 185's and i am way bigger than you

yeah, 186s are almost a foot over my head LOL

176s will be solid for me.

i feel for ya. having to battle east coast ice. no fun!

hey fuck it man,, skiing is skiing,, and a little ice aint gonna get in the way,, last year was a great year on the right coast,, and its almost time for this years ritual snowdance,,

^'235 and you're on 175's?' you mean. i am 200 and i ski a stiff pair of 180s and they are barely sufficient for my largeness

Abba Zabba, you my only friend

yeah that seems really small. i'm 5'11' 165 and go with 198, 190 and 188.
