Ski length question

Ok. I'm 5'7-5'8 in height and i weigh around 130-140 pounds. I want to get the Ninthward Mickael Deschenaux Comte skis; the smallest length is 176cm, and apparently from what I've heard, NInthwards are super light. Is this too long?

I didn't put this in gear talk because i just blew out the edges on my current skis and i need to decide fast, ski gabber is so much faster

Well, the weight of the ski is usually not a determining factor when selecting the proper length.

The length is completely dependent on the rider. If you feel that you are a fairly experienced skier, always go with a longer length. It will only increase stability particularly at high speeds.

On the other hand, if you haven't been skiing too long and don't feel as if you are an expert skier, then go with a shorter ski.

Well with twin tips you can always go a little longer since you have two ends bent up, losing overall surface, and it also depends on your preference/skill level

That should be pretty perfect for you, even a touch shorter than what I'd use if I were your height. People always think they need shorter skis than they really do.

if your skis dont pass your nose, you might as well call them snowblades.

but in all seriousness, IMHO, short skis look retarded. try to get something atleast to your nose, if not forehead, if not top of your dome.

longer is pretty much cooler thnk of how insignificant 10 cm really is be a man and rok the right size ski 176 is perfect for someone your size i wouldnt use the word too big until 185-190 for a person your size

it actualy chaps my ass seeing kids my size with >171

It vaires by brand. It can be running length, pressed length or unpressed length. Most are true pressed or unpressed length though, using a running length system would get really confusing with rockered skis.
