shit man i am 5'11'' 170 or so lbs and i got me some 160s they work for me, but i want some longer one, i got these free so i thought what the hell, i want some 180s though, when i get the $$$

im 6' and ride 189s. no one should make skis under 175

if no one should make skis under 175 are you guys saying that no one under 5' tall should ski? why you gotta hate on the short people of this world? luckily i've been skiing my whole life and measure out at 5'2 so i could comfortably ski 175s, but with today's skis i like 165s best.

and you act like you're so tough because you think you're skis are so long - maybe you're insecure about the length of something else

hahaha, wanna see it??

i used to ski 198's, when i was 5'6' and 15 yrs old. there is no reason for people to ski such short shit. fuck that, i'm a purist... in some ways.

*all hail to the mighty gods of snow*

maybe if you ventured out of the park for once in your life you would notice the benefit of longer, faster more stable skis

id say both of you should go with skis bigger than 180s, maybe you could pick up a pair of 78s but i wouldnt go any smaller

5'10' 183lbs (aka fat bastard)

I'm on Scream Pilot 10s, 180cm, and they are perfect. By far the best set-up I've ever had. For reference, my last pair were Rossi Viper X 198s, and I loved them, too. It ain't like I've been on shorties my whole life, and it took a lot of research and convincing to go down to the 180s. Just don't go too short, unless you live in the park, 'cause you'll miss it in the steep and deep.

im 5'9 and 150 lbs and i got 163s,i find them to small for me this year cuz i grew over the summer,i wanna get some 170s or higher

you guys responded just to prove my point once again.

you're no snomaster, snomaster. just so you know, back in '95 i alternated between some kneissel 185s and atomic 195s - and i was then as i am now only 5'2 and 110lbs. it took me forever to switch to shorter nonstraight skis.

to mammothpunks: i barely ever venture into the park, but a nice solid 170 allows me to go quite fast and is also light and short enough to maneuver through anything i've tried so far.

if i skied around where you guys are i'd bust out the 195s just to show you how silly you are thinking that ski length actually proves something.

ok i got these pills on the internet and i went from 6 to 6.5 inches in just under a week.

-jon, skiing the ice so the other half of the country doesnt have to.

i have a pair of 210s, but i havent used them yet. i think i might give them a try in the next skiercross.

i like to luge on my snowboard

lovetoski84:

and by luge he means sitting on his snowboard and constantly digging his feet into the snow to slow down as the snowbladers pass him

haha

so many schools of thought, just go demo some lengths. most ski shops will essentially let you demo skis for free so long as you buy skis from them. but it's better to go longer than shorter, just don't overdo it. takes a coupla days to get used to, not much else
