Well, I believe I encountered the best possible ski-job.

at whistler, my friend dislocated his shoulder because he was being wayyyyyyyyy to gorilla, well anyway, he dislocates his shoulder, and then teh ski patrol comes, etc.etc..and the ski patrol guy gets on the radio and radios one of the mountain doctors.

mountain doctor! these 'doctors' get paid god knows how much to ski around whistler all day in case someone needs one.

Anyone else got an ideal ski job that can gross 250,000 a year?

I have seriously thought about having a career in medical genre. The only thing that restrained me is the fact that i love skiing. I may look further into this sort of job.

he wasn't even wearing ski patrol gear! he was wearing a sweater.

and yes I'm sure he was a doctor he gave the kid lauhging gas and then popped his shoulder back into place.

ski patrol usually doesn't jsut radio in normal ticket holders to do that stuff

yea they do that, i know at my mountain the doctor on call is usualy out skiing when its gets quiet, i know from experience becuase i have been waiting for him on the gurney with a fractured leg while he was out and about on the slopes

As i'm pursuing a career in medicine, this has been on my mind for a while. Northstar has a clinic at the base of the mtn, beds, x-rays....They bring in doctors from the surrounding hospitals. It's a pretty sweet deal. Wouldn't be suprised that the 'skiing doc' you encountered takes a pay cut, just a hunch.

yea but skiing all day and seeing maybe 4 patients max a day is worth a pay cut,.

and you know he's still gonna be loaded.

it's not really a job, it's more something to do when you're not in the office. they are all regular doctors full time, they just sign on to a ski resort for a few days to a week at a time, then they return to their practice. they're kinda like volunteer ski patrol at smaller resorts... only they are ph. D's or d.o.'s

Sup yaaal, im the guy steeze patrol is taking about who dislocated his shoulder. it hurt like a son of a bitch but the doc popped it back in place first try right in the park, big thanks to Steve the mtn. doc. The patrol knew the doc well and commented that he had repostioned like 1000 shoulders before, i think its a reasonably permanent job, but one that im sure is not in abundance.

my dad is a medical ski patroller, all resorts in the US have volunteer doctors mostly for liability reasons. All they have to do is ski around and be on call if they are needed while at work.

In my dad's case, he has to volunteer two days a month, and this saccrifice gets him a free pass for himself and everyone in his family. As he likes to say it allows him to get first tracks two times a month since patrol gets to ride the lifts before the public. pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
