Ski Industry Statistics

Hey guys!

I'm working on a consulting proposal for my college business writing class, and am looking for some specific ski industry statistics. The objective of my project is to evaluate and apply data from the industry to an individual company, and propose a hypothetical change to the "C-Level" executives for the purpose of increasing the company's triple bottom line (three pillars of sustainability - people, planet, profit). I chose to study Line Skis.

I have been poking around on SIA's website and reading/analyzing the free reports, in addition to other industry statistics that are available. I understand that many trend reports, statistics, and models are not available for free for a reason, but would like to exhaust any free resources before making educated guesses.

Here are some examples of statistics I am looking for:

- What percentage of US skiers purchase twin-tip or freestyle skis versus traditional alpine skis?

- What is the market share (%) of ski manufacturers?

- Average ROI for a ski company?

- Profit margins?

I really appreciate any help or guidance anyone can offer, and I look forward to finishing up the project!

Thanks!

Peter

How do you define "traditional alpine ski?" There are plenty of companies out there now making skis that aren't twintips, but aren't traditionally shaped skis (e.g. Blizzard's freeride line)

I think you should do your homework and not have others do it. However, when it comes to statistics I advice you to use this tool. -It has worked really good for me in the past.
