Ski industry is full of Racers and Gapers

I can't wait until all the old racers die off in this Industry, and we can actually portray skiing as something cool not just a rich fags sport as the rest of the world sees it.
 
who cares what "the people in the industry" are like.. just do your own thing and relax.. believe me, you'll grow up to be a less stressed person
 
unfortuneatly without those racers and gapers there wouldn't be a ski industry... i do agree that some of the companies are run by old men who may just be stubborn or have their own reasons not to acknowledge where the sport is going, but at the same time the industry is slowly moving in the right direction... bottom line is that racing and new people coming to the sport make money for the industry, and newschool is slowly catching up
 
isnt that what makes us stand out? as being the younger more up and coming skiers. it sets us apart from the older generation of skiing
 
god stfu already. if i had a dime for every time one of you cockfucks mentioned any of these words : gaper, progression, industry i would have enough dough to buy this site. listen to me, all you people do is bitch about how skiing needs to change.

here's a suggestion- take these phrases out of your arguments:

"pushing the envelope"

"pushing it to the next level"

"pushing for progession"

"progessing to push for progression"

"the industry"

"i love man meat"

while i'm on a fucking rampage there's antoher thing. none of you actually know what the "industry" is. you just toss it around without ever actually talking about it. so if you really want to do something why don't you write a "dear industry" letter. maybe then someone will listen.

^agreed. I simply can't comprehend why people seem to think that skiers should

constantly worry about progressing the sport in the right direction.

I've never thought, "hmmm...will the repercussions of me throwing this

spin hurt the ski industry?" Has anybody ever thought this? Really?
 
I also agree. And on that note, I like throwing big spins, they're fun and challenging, so for all those people out there that beleive the biggest spin in the sport should be a 7 (probably cuz they can barely 5 or don't have the balls to go bigger) you should all join forces and play a gaint game of soggy cracker, while the rest of us who don't sit online all day bitchin about how other people ride can go out and ski.
 
Chances are you still won't be rocking a bandana in your pocket and doing truck drivers when you're 45.. and if you are, damn dude get a life and move on.
 
i'd like to see freestyle skiing stay in the background and in racing and snowboarding's shadows. the racing industry is large enough to keep skiing alive and provide money to put into r&d, so we'll have top-knotch gear, but the sport won't explode into the too-cool-for-school fad snowboarding's turning out to be. we want this sport to grow steadily, not explode and then burn out. the ski industry being chock-full of racers and weekend warriors means there's plenty of money in the industry, so hopefully freestyle skiing can grow at a steady pace and become a well-established style of skiing. we're in it for the long run, mang.

Yeah, what the ski industry really needs is more ignorant punks who like to trash on skiing's roots, because they think they are "cool".

 
Skiing in general is a rich mans sport. Sometimes it just depends how that rich man acts. You can be a pompous ass if you are a newschooler or racer, it doesn't matter how you look sometimes.

It takes a good chunk of money to do it on a regular basis. Personally, i bust my ass to make enough money to support my skiing addiction.
 
the kid who made this thead, you are a gaper. skiing is just like any other sport. specially something like biking. do you own a bike? ok. do you huck it off 50 fters? ok gaper. shut the fuck up.

of course theres gonna be people out there enjoying the mtn, even if they arnt good. they are the ones who keep the sport alive. i work in a shop, and believe me, the money we make from rich old men trying to make that ski magazine turn is what keeps us in business. (that and lil kids buying 800 dollar shaun white snowboard setups). either way, theres always gonna be the masses, and theres always gonna be the elite at the top, wether it be racing or freestyle. the way you sell shit, is you tell jimmy joe cant turn that with this ski, youll be that guy on the poster in the shop ripping u a race course or throwing off a 70fter. its just the way the industry works, and deal with it. theres no need to bash the industry. every company out right now has awesome twins. fischer, elan, and even blizzard, some of the most fringe companies have solid shit out. our segment of the sport is rapidly becoming very mainstream. in fact, the sale of skis the past season passed up snowboards for the first time in like 10 yrs or so. so bitch, shut up.
 
Man for real tho... ski to have fun, and dont worry about others, I hate people who bitch about gapers then gapers them selfs, it is you who ruin the spot... so just chill.
 
the less ppl view it as a "cool" sport the more mountain u have for urself so stfu cus some resorts r already crowded...
 
I didn't bother reading any of this thread, but you're an idiot. racers and gapers ARE the ski industry. we're just a really really small portion of the ski industry, you is ignorrent.
 
the rich people, and racers were basically the people who made skiing. Without it, you would be a sledder. But skiing is going the right direction dont worry
 
who gives a fuck... i was a racer .. i dont call my slef a "newschooler" i call my slef a skier. and thats the only label i give myslef.. yeah.. and if it wernt for snowboarding,, wed all be on mogulas or id be in a fartbag suit
 
Newschool has been around long enough that the era of skiers who started it in the mid/late 90's are now 25-35 and making headway into the industry too. I have proof.
 
welllll... poor people do ski... im not fucking starving ok but im poor... and get this... rode the lift with some old ass ski patrol dude and lady the other day... and they r like... i dont understand twin tips, can u tell me why its turned up in the back? im like, uh.. the same reason they're turned up in the front, what other reason would there be... and theyre like pssh i just dont get it... why dont u kids just ride a snowboard if u want to go backwards... SWEAR TO GOD... i just laughed and turned up my mp3... it was one of the most ignorant conversations ive ever had...
