Ski hills loosing integrity

over the past few weeks, at my hill in particular, i have noticed that the lift oporators havent been doing there job.

they are suposed to grab the lift, then pull it back so that you can sit on it nicely, correct?

well at my hill, generally all they do is grab the pole, but dont pull back, just make it look like they are pulling back. it pissed me off, but not to the point that i would do something about it. well today, my dad went to get on a chair by himself, and the lifty didnt even touch the bar, just let it hit him. he didnt see it coming and it hit his legs and threw him against the back of the chair.

he then had to stop for the rest of the night, because he hurt his back. he is still in alot of pain, and he defenetly not the guy to complain easily.

any other hills have this problem? how could i take care of it?

you might slack off a bit too if you were being paid a shit wage and watch everyone else ski while you stand there in the cold

dude we have the same problem...our resort also has in the job application....before hired...you must be missing at least 3 teeth that are visible when talking

see a simple fix is to pull ahead when u are going with more people so that they are infront of you...this way, they take the initial strike, thus giving you a nice, smooth platform to sit on...(that sounded mildly gay...)..this might not be the NISCEST way to do buissness but hey, you gotta do what u gotta do

Dude I just got off work today doing lifts. I worked from 11 till 10 with just two 30 minute breaks. 1 chair every 6 seconds, including all the fucking dumbasses you have to deal with messing the lifts up. Honestly, I garuntee you you wouldn't bump every single chair perfect everytime. It is fucking sore after a while because some of those chairs carry some momentum with them. So if I was one of those lifties doing that, I apologize and kiss my ass. Maybe if they paid more than 7 bucks an hour I'd put a little more effort into it.

that is a good point. you should take more rotations between the top guy and bottom guy. the skiers should not have to suffer because of it.

You cannot do that, you are assigned either the top or bottom. The head guys have it all figured out in shifts and you can't really go against that without getting your ass raped.

Hmmm... Our mountain really sucks then. We can only switch for lunch and dinner breaks which is every 5 hours.

i was a liftie last season, and if you know how to get on a chair properly (reach behind and grab the outside pole or the seat) than you don't need someone to bump it for you. even little kids who are good skiers can get on without a bump. oh, and when a liftie does bump a chair for you make sure you thank them cuz its tiring work and a shit job for shit pay. basically, lifties should be your heroes.

When I was a liftie some times I would bump the shit out of a chair so by the time it gets to the person it is flying. It really sucks bumping chairs all day so like someone else said make sure you say thanks and dont expect a bump put your hand back and bump it yourself if you know what you are doing because after bumping 1000+ chairs your wrist really starts to hurt.

agreed. i know its not an easy job but it was a choice. if i pay 65 bucks for a ticket, i had better get good service.

heres a simple concept...be proactive enough to grab the fucking lift before it takes you out

all you have to do is turn slightly, grab it as it swings into your legs like a guillotine, and voila... safe loading

ok, but speaking in my dads point of view, 90 percent of the time, they do grab it, that time, he figured they would grab it, and they didnt. so it caught him offgaurd

altas liftys are really good, my cousin teles and they are always like "wow a lil tele man"

they love us

at my hill the lifties are all boarders and none are skiers and they sometimes purposley let it hit me. like they let it realy soft for the people in front but hard on me. kus skiers are takign over teh parks

like one of the first things you learn when skiing is you are supposed to watch the lift coming. if he would have been watching he would have seen that he needed to grab it.

ah shit... this has happened at our hill too. ususlly the lifties tell you "here it comes" or somethin along those lines.. and then hold the chair for you. well a few weeks ago i was fixin my goggles and the chair came around. the liftie neglected to say anything and didnt even touch the chair (im guessing form the speed the chair hit me) and i got clobbered in the side of the fuckin head with the bar.

i ended up getting off the lift and just sitting on the ground for like 5 minutes, it fuckin sucked.
