Ski helmets vs. skateboard helmets...........

So today i ate shit and hit my head for the 100000th time. This time i realized it felt like my helmet did absolutly nothing for the impact. My skull just slammed against the hard styrofoam inside of the helmet with no give at all which slammed into the ground. The impact felt like it would be the same with or without a helmet. On the other hand, my skateboard helmet has one layer of soft foam then a layer of styrofoam much softer than my ski helmet. It occured to me that if i was wearing my skate helmet the impact of my skull would have been way less and way more cushioned. Does anyone know why ski helmets are different and hard? anyone know any ski helmets that have similar padding to skate helmets? are my observations wrong or something?

I would rock a skate helmet for sure if it fit my goggles and shit but it dosnt.

ski helmets are normally designed to take one hard impact, after that the inner foam loosens up and you get less protection. you probably just needed a new helmet if you hit your head 10000 times with it.

ya he's right. just like motorcycle helmets, they're made out of Styrofoam. and this stuff is strong and when it takes a hard hit, it kinda 'molds' to your head so the impact crushes the Styrofoam instead of your head. after this, the styrofoam can't resize itself and get normal sized again. so ya. get a new helmet fool

ski helmets are made stronger then skateboard helmets.. thats why theres a little sticker on the inside that says: certified for....

its a brand new helmet so im sure it just hasnt already endured some huge impact, but its just hard styrofoam and the only soft parts on the inside are the fitting strips. i wear a beanie under it hoping it will take some of the impact haha it just seems logical that a soft layer would help reduce milder impacts.......anyone have a helmet that has a soft squishy layer too? what kind is it?

if you want a better helmet for impacts and have the money, get a poc. they are expensive, but probably the safest helmet on the market because they are made by a Swedish race company who know their shit. jon olsson is sponsored by them and i think tanner hall is too. i think they look pretty sick, but they do cost alot
