Ski Half Pipe in 2010

Realize this has already been done, but what is people opinions on continuing to pursue Ski Half Pipe to be included in the 2010 Olympics or should there be other efforts made for a separate event to showcase the sport around the same time?

i belive that halfpipe skiing getting into the olimpycs would be a very good thing. Alot more people would know what can be done on skies, alot more people would get into it.

i just hate it when i go to the tampolins with friends and somebody asks me if i'm a snowboardes and when i say "no, i'm a skier" they would be like: "you do filps with skies 0_o ?!?!"

I believe that only good can come out this. Either this will spur the inclusion of skier 1/2 pipe into the Olympics or there will be one hell of a sick, separate event that will likely garner equal or more attention.

If it can still be done.. Id be all for it.

people knock the regulating bodies for making things too gay or strict. But I still think you can go out, crush a run, and showcase the sport and your country... that being the whole point of the Olympics.

it should happen, racing is washed up. no one cares, they need to make mad bank. that's how they will do it. it will be in thurr.

I would love to see the half-pipe in the 2010 'lympics, it would be one of the sickest ways imaginable to show the world the sport of freeskiing.

A separate event, if probably organized, advertised, and funded, would be crazy ill, especially if it was also held in the Vancouver/Whistler vicinity during the 2010 Olympics, or maybe afterwards.

The world definitely needs to see more of this sport, which is progressing like crazy but still held within a small community. In a way, I like it, but I hate how people who have never skied or snowboarded before immediately go "skiing is gay, snowboarding is cooler".

I think its a positive thing and would help our industry thrive! But at the same time I don't wanna see skiing turn into skateboarding where everybody hates on each other and a billion different companies.

Uhhh...it'll happen to almost any sport. Skiing has this, but very little of it. Halfpipe would make the world know about skiing, and at that time skiers will have better runs than snowboarders do (arguably we already do have better runs) and bring money to this sport, which would keep it from dying, and the more companies the cooler.

I think it would be sick, but it's starting to become too late to get it in. It could happen but in all honesty it's not looking likely. If not I love the idea of having a seperate event during the olympics

Well, honestly the only people it will affect on a large scale is the athletes themselves. Sure we'll watch it, but they'll be living it. If they're stoked, that's all that matters. So.. Halfpipe in 2010 Olympics? I'm for it!

The pipe will already be cut, it would be easy to have an exhibition type of event. I think it is too late to have the full Olympic event, who really knows? Anyone?

From what I think I know about the issue...I don't believe its even a possibility right now because there's not enough participating countries to have it as an olympic sport, and also the deadline issue..I am pretty sure there are a lot of people trying really hard to make it happen. It would help boost the industry by leaps and bounds...if not the olympics though something needs to happen, i think having the dew tour host skiing will be really cool. Freeskiing just needs to be televised more

i find that hard to believe, if a country can field a snowboard team they could put together a ski pipe team, i would think.

well simon said in yea dude that hes trying to push 1/2 pipe into the olympics so we got that goin for us. I think if we pushed hard enough we could get it in yadayadamean?

I think they will run into judging issues, skiers go so retarded big compared to uniboarders and have 400 times more options. Who could judge it without being biased on a olympic level. I think it would blow the average persons mind. I would love to see it on tv and you know the highlights would be repeated for months. Skiing would gain so much respect.

yes, but it goes back to the fact that snowboarding is now mainstream...and along with that means more money. It is a lot more realistic for a country to fund a snowboarding team than a ski team.

eh but youd be suprised how many pipe rippers there are . And snowboarding has lost the popularity it had a few yrs ago because of the progression of freestyle skiing

Maybe, but there are like 400,000 people in the world that buy twin tip skis there are millions of people that buy snowboards, we just don't got the money and popularity. And it is the Internationl Fedaration of Skiing that voted skiing pipe a no go. Stupid old school people all they are doing is hurting the sport.

Send e-mails to NBC saying how much you want to see ski half pipe in the olympics. Make the email professional. Each email they read counts as 1000 people having the same opinion. So everyone who wants to see pipe should write.

we should put all our ski videos with titles like put it in th eolimpycs all around the internet It sounds stupid hahaha but maybe it could work. Imajine there are like 3000 ppl that comes a lot to ns if wveryone did that then their friends and stuf it will be a lot oh and have fayth to it to happened and it will

half pipe has already been voted out and skier cross voted in. mostly because the olympic board is domonated by euros and they are extremly racing oriented. Skier cross is 90% racers...

exactly i kno kids who have skied once and never snowboarded and because it was hard to learn for them they think snowboarding would be easyer so they make the assumtion snowboardings better. personly i think it would be tight and it would show kids that its not all bout snowboaring. skiers can boost out of the pipe way higher and snowboarders.and i also think snowboarders have crappy style they look so shitty.

In order for 1/2 pipe to be included in the Olympics - I am fairly certain that these upcoming events for this season will have to be well attended. In order to be well attended. The competitors need to join the FIS.

sooooo with the first Major 1/2 Pipe Comp at Park City in Mid December...............

Here is a link to FIS Freestyle events. 5 events turned up. The good news is that it appears 3 of them are in the USA but none in Canada?
