Ski for Beginner?

so i lent my little brother my 0405 PE's for a few days to go skiing with his friends. He fell in love with skiing but still isnt very good. The furthest he went was some blues. Now he wants his own skis, unfortunately he's mostly concerned with the graphic. What would be a fitting ski for a beginnerish skiier for the east coast ny/nj skiing? if possible with a cool graphic

I was thinking next years silencer as its the same dimensions as last yeas PE's (i hear). Or the prophet 80s as another chocie. Help would be appreciated.
 
why not some PE's?

tm's are great, im on my 3rd season with them and still love them.

as for the beginner thing, most midsize twintips are easy to ski in general
 
Prophet 80's are a very stiff ski, atleast next year's model is. It's got extra titanium in it, so it's definitly not a good beginner ski. The Volkl Dogen would be a solid choice, as would a Fujative, as they both have softer shovels and that'll help with the intiation of carves.
 
he wont be hitten the park for a little while. A question though: Stiffer=harder to flex and therefore harder to carve? meaning a softer ski like the fujative would be an easier turning ski?
 
softer= more flex and easier to turn yes, but stiffer= better edge hold/more response when carving. Since he is starting out, he probably won't notice a difference at all. PE's are a really safe bet, Fujatives would also work. Calskierx has been known to use Fujis for all mountain.
 
ah thanks alot. I was thinking this and next years PE's are a bit wider in the waist so they wouldnt be as fitting as an 80mm wiast like the silencer or the 0405 PE
 
How old is he? If he is 13+ I think PE's would really be good if he is wanting a ski that is good to learn to ski all mountain on and to have the option to then progress to park on. Dont worry about the width, 85 isn't that wide anymore and the PE's have a decent sidecut, and if you guys ever go on vacation out west and get to ski powder it will be a good thing to have just that little extra width underfoot.
