Ski for a little guy

I am a little guy...4'9 and 70 pounds...I just got off these gay race skis and I need something better for all mtn...I had a pow day and it was terrible..anyway I need a ski that can go into the park and the pow, it doesn't need to be the best ski in those categories but it needs to do it all! I've been looking into Line TC, Salamon Remix, and Atomic panics

How stiff/soft do you want your ski to be? At that weight pretty much anything will feel a lot stiffer.

I want something soft-medium. Be able to be playful but also not give out underneath me if I land backseat since I'm learning tricks

Well next years TC might be an option then. They are supposed to be very soft, but also have some rocker.

If your 4'9 I would not get any of those skis cause they only come in like 160cm+ sizing. I'm short also, and need new skis but I'm looking into skis that will actually fit like 150s or so.

I should be taller when ski season comes

"I had a pow day and it was terrible." There must be something wrong with you. Pow days are fun regardless of the skis you are on. I've skied waist deep on old Volkl AC40's and it was a blast. If you are 4'9" and still growing then don't buy a pair of skis. It will be a waist of money when you are too tall for them the season after. I didn't actually own my own skis until I was 16 because that's when I stopped growing and I certainly didn't let rentals slow me down. If you insist on buying none of those would be good in pow anyway. If you really want to get some skis then I'd say don't look at anything over 160 because it just plain won't fit you right and will be intended for heavier people.

Now I would like to take a minute to pick apart your word choice. First of all, don't use "gay" to describe things regardless of if they are a race ski or not. It is not a synonym for stupid or bad or anything like that. And you know what, you should be glad you have the option of skiing even if it's on race skis. So be thankful. Second of all I really like your use of the word "need". You say you "need" a new ski. Do you really need one or do you want one? I would say the latter considering skis tend to glide on snow regardless of their intended purpose.

Happy 4th and welcome to the wonderful world of the internet.

Ok. Your right about how pow is always fun. I was just struggling because I was using youth race skis which are like 50mm something underfoot, and mounted way back since they're small skis so leaning back wasn't really and option. It was just terrible keeping up and trying to stay up 24/7.

And I don't see how it will be bad to buy skis, yeah I am growing but if I do grow out of them they will be a mess around ski.

And I actually do "need" skis, I live out west and there's many pow days. And the other 50mm underfoot skis are way to small.

Happy 4th to you to

I mean it's not like buying skis would be bad. I just don't think you need to. It'll be hard to find a ski in the length you are looking for that's a pow ski. The shortest most of them come in is 169, unless you want to look at woman's skis. Since you aren't very big you can get away with a ski that's not truly a pow ski, though. Personally I would suggest these skis. The are a decent price so it won't be the end of the word if they are too short after one season and the bindings are easily adjustable to account for growing feet (if you do get two seasons out of them you won't have to get them remounted.

Just think about if you would rather have an okay setup now or a really sweet one a few years down the road when you are done growing and actually need really good equipment so you don't do things like blow your bindings up.

Trust me, I know how it is to live in the western US and ski on a not powder ski. I'm from Seattle and it dumps in the Cascades and I still grew up on rental skis. When you stop growing get a legit setup and spare no expenses because it's worth it. For the time being if you try and save money you'll be able to get whatever setup you want.

Ever heard of jr pow skis, tons of options like bent Chetler mini, salomon makes some really nice jr pow skis. And lot of other options

Except you dont want a ton of flex in a pow ski necessarily, rocker yes, flex not so much. Judging by the videos I have seen of people flexing the new TC the will be a buttery as fuck park ski but I am betting the massive amounts of flex will cause some issues in the deep stuff.

mini bent chetlers are the sickest ski out for someone you size, plenty of width to float your little ass too so your good. buy them
