Ski Films, and the music they chose

I don't know about you guys, but I think skiing film makers like that of the obvious poor boyz, matchstick etc.. pick the dopest music to play behind their skiing films. I am huge into underground hip hop, I have dj'd for numerous years, and I find so many of my favorite songs pop up in ski movies. When I watch these movies they just get me so amped up, cause I can relate to the skiing because I wanna do everything to make myself have such fluent style as these pro riders ( in the future hopefully), and the music just makes it so much better. Skiing to me has become an obsession rather then a hobby to some. When I hear the tracks that I love being played in these films, It just makes me love this sport even more. Groups like that of hieroglyphics, swollen members, dialated, deltron 3030 (del), etc... are represented throughout this sport in almost every single movie it seems. These are all California based groups, so obviously with the movies being made there, theres goin to be alot of west coast hip hop. Does anyone else feel the same way I do. I find myself downloading the tracks off these albums and like falling in love with some of em. While I listen to the song, I know every part of the actual ' ski footage' that is behind it. Like in Tanners segment in SM3, the song off deltron 3030. When he is in slow motion off the kicker, the music is just fucken perfect. Now everytime I hear that song, I think of Tanners segment. I guess this is a random post which is about an opinion. But I just wanna say that skiing is making my life so much better, and listening to the music behind the movies has made listening a little bit better. Damn, im going to cry now, hahah, nah though, skiing is the fucken shit.... WHOS WITH ME!

yeah man, ski movie songs rule. i wonder if they ever let the rider choose the song that they want in their segment. i know that Johnny Decesare let CR pick his song, because 'L' is a rapper friend of CR's from squaw.

anybody know C.R.'s song from Happy Dayz?? That song is fuckin bad and it sounds like maybe one of his homies sing about the 'alKasquawlics' etc. This song is so perfect for Johnsons part. He is probably the sickest athlete in that video as far as i'm concerned. Anybody know the song and group?? or if they even have a cd??

Yeah everyone has to check out www.skitv.com if they haven't there so many good movies on there. It shows Decarse, and how he works with ( I think Dorion) I could be wrong though, and how he picks exactly what he wants in his segment. Its really tight...

nice L quote. and im not sure whether i like the song because its in the movie or the movie just exposes me to a song i like but either way they are damn good. and have yourself a nice day

well jonney is down in cali so thats prob the reason for poorboyz hip hop underground coming from there

Even though i hate rap with a passion, when they in ski movies i cant help but like them. i still think bands like Stained, Blindside, Peral Jam and Nirvana are better.

I think ski flick movies will evlolve into matrix style craziness with the music going along with the athlete. Like the athlete would have head phones and do stylie things to the music then play the song to the same footage and timing.

i've never heard a lot of the songs from ski movies but theyre all sweet. After I hear them in the movie i hear them on mtv in the background and stuff.

i have heard enough swollen member in ski movies to last a life time, one song is okay, but not 5 every year! plus Matchstick has stolen a lot of the songs they use from older snowboard movies. not that that is illegal but it isn't that cool.

yeah man i definitely groaned when fuel injected came up in the front line, that was rubbish

Travis Parkers song in his segment in afterbang flows so nice with him, and Eric Spriet's song in scandolous fit perfect

what is the song for the Collin's brothers in Sm3?

And this whole time i thought my penis was just inside out.

I personally thought that Afterbang altogether had one of the best soundtracks in an actionsport movie ever. It's unique and I hope no one tries to copy its style.

Ya, i agree with swollen members getting a little out of hand. One or two songs is enough, but you hear that shit over and over in every ski movie.

yo tan, it's: dope - now or never and its oakden's segment too i think.

The shit in most ski flicks is sick tunes, but I wouldn't say it's 'underground hip hop' like you say. Dilated Peoples? Maybe underground in 1998 or 1999 even. Del and Heiro have been doing shit forever. Not quite underground.

def too much rap in ski movies... more punk!

skiing is just like sex. when its good, its goooooood. and when its not so good, its still pretty good.

i was stoked to hear a living legends in a movie this year and andre nickatina in a snowboard flick. ibergs soundtracks are always the best in my opinion.

Del, hiero, swollen, dialated are definitely still in the underground scene. I mean they are definitely more commerical then alot of underground artists, but I would still classify them as underground. But I would have to agree with u in a way to say that they could not be classified as underground at the same time. Dialated is starting to get big. But to be commerical to me, you have to be blown up, be all over BET and MTV, and groups like the ones I just stated will never be because their lyrical content doesnt apeal to a younger youth, and that to get them commerical. But, I live in CT also, and these groups are western groups, and canadian groups, so maybe they are just underground to me because I don't live in that area. For some underground east coast shit.. check out Apathy, mr lif, demigodz, akrobatik, cage, mr eon, j live, rise.... all dope

Yeah tooo much rap... I always like Boyd Easly's section and JF's they got dope music... some hip hop is good, but i think that there is too much rap. But then again if thats what the Pros want fuck, let em have it, they should get whatever music that they want for their section.

normally i dont like punk with skiing but there are a couple exceptions. Jon olssons segment in propaganda and Shawn Sullivan's in Ski movie 3.

i'm down with all the hip hop in videos and whatnot, but i think it is being a little played out. It seems rap has to be in videos. I would like to see more of a mix of music on soundtracks with classic rock, other music you wouldn't normally see in videos, along with rap.

i agree with CTripper. One of my favorite soundtracks was from Zero - Dying to Live, there are so many different kinds of music.

Everyone wants to see something different. And everyone wants to see the music which they like, obviously. Its hard to please everyone I guess

Afterbang, by RobotFood, sick soundtrack. I love that soundtrack. Pulse has a good soundtrack, so does Happy Dayz. So does Freewheel Burning, NWD3.

Oh, I thought the soundtrack to eS Menikmati was really good too. It was composed entirely for the movie by a crazy symphony. All instrumentals.
