Ski demo story

I was out in Vail last week and it was a powder day so i decided to demo some fat skis. The only fat ski they had on the mountain was the salomon gun, but it was a good price. I told the guy i wanted to demo the guns and while i was filling out the info sheet he grabbed a pair, size 165. I noticed that and i told the guy that i wanted size 175. Now i'm 5'6" but a really aggressive skier so i wanted a big powder ski which i knew i could handle and 175 wasn't that big anyway. But the guy kept insisting on giving me the smaller size, so i said,"fuck no bitch, i don't want them damn short sticks!" (not actual words) Finally i convinced the guy to give me the 175's. Is it me or should it not be so hard to get the size that i want and not what their skiing "protocol" goes by. I ended up having a great day of skiing after that and 175 was the perfect size. Has any one else ever had a problem like this with a ski shop?

i havnt hasd that particular issue but my shop wont crank up my din settings on my binding when i ask them too i always have to do it myself

yep. i'm 5'10" and 150 and i took my 179 PE's to get mounted at my local shop. the guy who worked there bitched at me for about a half hour about how my skis were too long and how i couldn't handle it. i just told him that i didn't really care what his opinion was and i love my PE's to death, wouldn't have gotten them any shorter.

I was also in vail, im like six feet even and i was demoing the foils, they guy goes do you want a 158 or a 166, i was like uh a 182 plz?

i took mine out for the afternoon and it only cost 25 bucks for 3 hours even though i actually had them out for over 4 hours

i'm 5'7 and i ski 176's and 169's but i like my 169's better, It goes right up to my forehead and i think thats a perfect length.

my normal all mountain skis are 168 which are good, but when you're skiing a powder ski you generally want to go a little bigger which is what i did

i think thats why almost no shops sell ANTs, because they think that its too big for anybody to buy.

Yeah, I went to a shop and watched as the salesman managed to sell a pair of 155's to a kid taller than me (I'm 5'10)

This is a liability thing, if they crank it then you hurt yourself, they are 100 percent open to being sued

I understand though, i have to do the same.

In Colorado at least I kow DIN must be set to certain levels by law, so the shop can't legally do it so it aint there fault. Also I am the smae size have 165 PRs and love em but I'm really light too
