im in the uk for the summer and im killing myself with boredom. are there any ski compitions or events going on in the summer and where is the best park
also i have no boots or skis, i dont really care what skis i use but last time i was here the boots they rented me didnt even do up. are there any places that rent semi decent boots round here?
Where abouts are you in the UK?There's snow centres at hemelhttp://www.thesnowcentre.comMK, Braehead and Castlefordhttp://www.xscape.co.uk
And Manchesterhttp://www.chillfactore.com
All these are indoor snow slopes, around 150m+ in length, Hemel is the most recently opened and debatedly has the best snow conditions, they have park nights on Thursday, Friday and Saturday called Park&Ride, costing around £30+
MK has small park features e.g boxes and rollers on the slope all over the summer, with one hour costing £16, and the price going down per hour, the more hours you stay, their park nights varies along with their features, but all information is on their website.
I've never been to Chill Factore but hear good things about it.
Hope this helps
In Scotland we have two dry slopes at Glasgow, Bearsden, and Bellahouston, also in Glasgow there is Breahead Xscape indoor real snow thing. Then in Aberdeen there is one more dryslope at Garthdee. I think that is all we have right now. It is likely there will be ski competitions at all of these places at some point over the summer as well as ones in England like Summer Heat Rail Battle on the 5th of June at Xscape Castleford. Where are you based? Check out this forum for some uk banter, http://www.unity-productions.co.uk/forum/index.php
buy cheap stuff online... like old line invaders and cheap ass bindings then like soem old ass boots id cost like 500 dollars for a whole new setup if u have the money but
i dont have very much money and need to save enough to move back to whis at the end of the summer so im probly only going to go to places near edinburgh and only when/ if events are on. sooo if you guys hear about anything around here thats mostly what im looking for.
also are there any good trampoline/ diving board places?
there is a big jam session style competition on at sno!zone scotland next friday night from 7 till 11. Its normally amazing fun with a good atmosphere and some good prizes so it is definetly worth checking out. This is a link to a website with the park plan and all the details about the session http://http://www.snowboardclub.co.uk/news-braehead.html
I think theres the Commonwealth pool in Edinburgh with diving, last time I was there it was shut tho'. Lots of bridge/cliff jumping spots around, bit chilly usually but went in today and wasn't too bad.
Just wondering what your doing in Edinburgh for the summer?
im gonna go to that comp for sure!! now i just need to figure out where to rent a decent pair of skis and boots!
im in edinburgh cuase my mom lives here and i need to do some online courses to upgrade my highschool marks.. i was having trouble getting any work done in whistler haha
going to be sick, check www.unity-productions.co.uk for all the info, gonna be sick just like last years, free tall tee for entering and stickers and shizzles
fuckk i would probly go for the 26.5 spks but im having alot of trouble getting a job here..
anyone have some really shittty boots 25- 26.5ish? like im only gonna use em once or twice so i dont really care as long as they can attach my feet to skis
Call EB in Glasgow and ask for Katie, tell her Lorne sent you. I saw her in the shop today she said something about having a load of old shitty boots around just now, like really old stock or ones that had been returned. If you want something for £50 they can probably find some in the company. 0141 885 4700.
hey man thatnks alot for that offer!! lucky for me tho i found some boots in my attic that were my moms from the 80s and they fit me alright so im gonna give them a try.
does anyone from edinburgh/ going through edinburgh to this thing on friday have an extra space in their car? il pitch gas money and all that!
It's supposed to be 150m, and it probably would be if they didn't put up barriers on the bottom third, or close it off for tobogganing etc. But yeah the park sucks balls, It's okay for the first half an hour before little kids churn up every landing and kicker in site. (if there's anything out anyway)
