I know there are a bunch of threads and I've checked them all out but I decieded I'd look for some new info. So I was wondering if I could some input on colleges I've applied to and if there other colleges i should be looking. Btw i'm only looking at west coast schools. I'm in the midwest now and want to get outof here as fast as possible. Oh and I have a 3.3 gpa with a 27 act score.

Colleges I'm Applying To

University Utah

Westminster

University Colorado Boulder

University of Wyoming

Washington State

Thanks!

CU is the best for skiing ever!!

But really, if you wanna ski, go to a school in SLC.

Weber State University in Ogden Utah. Its a kick ass business school the is an hour away from all eleven Utah resorts. It is 20 minutes away from Snowbasin. Its not a hard school to get into and its cheap too. Its focus is Business. Its also the only school in the country that offers a bachelor degree in Sales.

Seriously? No its prime time to start thinking about colleges you want to apply to.
You cant apply to anywhere for this fall semester if thats what your thinking its too late for.

montana state university in bozeman man montana great school and even better location three resorts within 45 mins of campus such amazing skiing and in the summer tons of climbing and mountain biking

Absolutely not Washington State. There are great ski colleges in Washington, but Washington State is not one of them. Look into University of Washington, Western Washington, and even Central Washington. Or any other school in and around Seattle. but for the love of god don't go to Pullman.

hmm you have my attention for sure! i'm planning on going into business. do you go there? what is the skiing scene like at the school. what is the night life like? right now i just really want to go to a great business school where i can ski and fun in my free time. sounds perfect.

I'm sorry i totally forgot to mention that i'm going to be a senior in highschool this year. so i'm just starting to apply now

I am the owner of the Jibyard which is just down the street from the University. I went to Weber and had a great time. There are more ski and snowboard companies in Ogden than anywere else in the world. Thats why I built the Jibyard there. Ogden is the rowdy city of Utah and is an inexpensive place to live. There are a lot of clubs and bars and the Salomon Center with indoor surfing and skydiving and a bunch of other shit. There are a ton of sick downtown apartments for like $400 a month and they are brand new. No shit. I love it here.

idk exactly what it is but it's super expensive for out of state. my neighbor was saying they have a program where you go to community college for a year in boulder then you can transfer to the university next year and pay instate tuition and your credits carry over. i'm not positive on this tho maybe someone could clarify that.

no man i'm not like that. i'm looking at academia first but i want to go to school with a good business program and still has great skiing if possible. I want a college where I'll get a great education because that is most important but I don't want to stay in WI. I love the west coast and want to be able to do the things I love while at school. Trust me if I stay in WI I'll do study and party and I don't want that. You understand where I'm coming from now? Sorry I didn't clarify that earlier.

they didn't teach you about sarcasm meters at your school did they? well for reference, yours right now.. is about a 2... mine's about a 26, on a scale from 1-10.

ohhh daaawwwwwww i knew i should've paid better attention in my college statistics math class...

Hate to be the Anti-CU Boulder girl but even though I love CU so much, CSU is my choice for Colorado schools. I grew up in Colorado and always hated Boulder, FoCo is so nice and laid back. If I were you though I wouldn't choose any college in Colorado...
a) out of state tuition is insaneb) not the best academic reputations (good schools but not ranked)
Good luck.

That sounds like an awesome idea. I've ever thought doing that. Only problem is that I'm sure my parents will have something to say about since they are helping to pay about a quarter of my tuition. I have to work a lot in the summer as it is to save for college so that'd mean i'd be working in winter so i wouldn't get to ski as much anyway. Thanks though for the suggestion, something i will for sure consider.

or Westminster we have a great group of freeskiers here i go to class and ski PC everyday and rode Brighton on nights when I had class too many times in the day to squeez PC in. If you prefer smaller classes and such Westminster is ill. But the U of U is great too if you want a real "college" experience. Like sports, parties thousands of kids and whatnot. Also check out Colorado College they are a few hours from summit county and University of Denver has a large freeskiing following and is a kickass school.

UW (U. of washington, not Washington state which not a good choice for

skiing) is going to have a brand frickin new business school in the

next year or so, plus its program is already solid as hell, I think usually ranked top 10 public business school in the country.

A touch further for the skiing than say some of the schools in utah, but solid education and city nonetheless

I don't know much about washington in general. Could you possibly tell me about the size, tuition cost, what type of grades and test scores does it take to get in, and what resorts it's near?

I love this idea and am seriously considering this, but who else does that? goign to school in the summer while everyone else is back home working or partying/having great times is something i wouldn't want to miss out on.

dude, I feel you on what your saying but itisn't all tha bad. Our "community" is close knit and the people are always super chill and nice. I just hate when kids say "Midwest is the shittiest place on earth, I can't wait to get outta here" type of stuff. The midwest has a lot to offer to people, you just gotta have fun and make friends.

oh for sure midwest is great for anything but skiing lol. WI is full of awesome people and is a beautiful state. It just feels like i'm not able to do what i want here. I will miss certain parts of it tho for sure. yea it bugs because whenever i go out of state people ask where i'm from. I tell them WIsconsin and they're all like to you live on a farm to you make your own cheese. I'm like nooo. people think wisco and the rest of the midwest is hick city when it isn't.

If your going to choose a school based on quality of skiing in that area... why would you not chose University of Utah. It has i think 9 (maybe 7) resorts within 30 minutes of it. could you ask for any better?

out of state tuition is expensive no matter what state you go to. I am going to UVM, I am from CT. Tuition is into the 40k's.

Western Washington should be your choice in WA. Baker is super close and you have Whistler a 3 hrs away. I went to Washington State and it is a challenge getting people to rally 5 hrs round trip to ski. I wish I would have thought that through a little better.

yessir. uni nevada place to be fo sho. cant wait to start. this year theres a free shuttle runnin to squaw every day. bomb

UW or any Seattle school is 2 hours from the ski hill. You have three of them. Snoqualmie pass 3/10 is about 1 hour from Seattle. You have crystal mt 9/10, down by mt rainier, usually good skiing and lots of snow and you have Stevens pass 6.5/10 which is further north, good park descent terrain. All the resorts get a descent amount of snow and offer a variety of skiing. However if you want to get into UW you better have a 3.75 or higher with tons of community service and it helps to be Asian....

okay are you guys talking like 40K a year for out of state tuition? Because if so thats retarded actually
Us eskimos up here in canada let any other Canadian go any publicly funded school for the same price, and our tuition is like 4g's a year. And its still only 20g's if youre not a canadian citizen. And our schools are no less recognized than yours.

comparing academics, CU Boulder is most likely the top school...although that also depends on what you are studying. Comparing distance to a ski resort, Boulder is pretty far - in fact, the University of Denver is a shorter drive to the mtns than CU Boulder. I go to DU and its really not a skiers school though. There's a ton of kids that go there and they all ski, but only a handfull of them are into freeskiing. CU on the other hand has a HUGE freeskiing community. From personal experience I would say pick your school based on more than just skiing. If you wanna be around skiers or something then you can always go to DU and drive 30 mins to Boulder and party with that crowd on the weekend. Good luck man!

portland state University in Oregon, total urban setting if yea in to that. has a really good business program, it has just about any type of business you wanna go in to. You can ski all year round and dorms prob hr from MT.hood if yea go slow. cut that in half if yea leave early and radar detector! ha

Sierra Nevada College. N. Lake Tahoe. 3 minutes from Diamond Peak which has fresh tracks for days, 20 minutes to northstar 35 to alpine 40 to squaw. all the big ones you need

colorado mountain college and western state university... western state is on crested butte and cmc is in between breck and copper i think
