I have gone to CU - boulder, CMC - steamboat, and MSU- bozeman, so I think I have a pretty good idea of what these schools are like and this dude pretty much hit it dead on. everything depends on what you want to do:
Nothing but ski (7x week) - CMC
Party hard, ride the best parks with huge crowds (3-4x week), hardly get any good pow, do some school too - CU
Ski hard, ride SICK ass terrain (4-5x week), not the greatest parks but OK, live in a much more chill town than boulder, but not as much nightlife - MSU
I have heard good things about UNR, UU, and Oregon State.
CMC is a community college with only 2 year degrees, while CU and MSU are 4 years, so they are obviously better schools. In terms of accademics CU is probably a little better than MSU, but not much. CMC is open enrollment, while MSU is nearly open enrollment. CU can be a little tough to get into (3.0 gpa is average for arts & sciences i think, 3.5 for engineering).
Hope that helped, feel free to hit me up with a PM if you wanna know anything else.
