Hey guys,

Im doing a marketing project for uni on consumer infulences.

So, I'd like to know what sort of things influenced you when you bought your skis?

Maybe some things along the lines of:

Price

Brand

Brand reputation

Graphics

Construction

Strength

Durability

Weight

Coolness

Tell me what else influenced you!

Cheers dudes

for me pretty much all of them minus graphics cuz i dont really care that much about em

yeah i would have to say all of those....

im not going to lie graphics ... i like. but only if the ski is good all around and can hold up.

price, durability, characteristics or however the fuck you spell that. meaning I wouldnt buy a ski that weighed 15 pounds and super soft. obviously

Out of all of those, above all price influence my decision to purchase a ski, which is why I usually purchase last season's gear rather than the current's season schwag. Second, Durability; You can really couple durability with strength and construction, because something that's not strong and constructed well is not durable. Anyway, I like products that I purchase to last me more than a month. Brand and brand reputation is really of no concernt to me. I ride 9thward because my experience with them has been positive and will continue to purchase their products because my first impression was a good one.

Graphics and coolness have no weight in my decision to purchase a ski.

Somewhat brand, just because there's more accounts of using and I feel like I can depend on what people said, instead of some brands with 1 review where it's a toss up.

Pricewise, I buy last years unless there's something really improved about this years. I'll go more $ if I think it's worth it, but for most of the time there's a good limit of $ i'll spend knowing either ski will give me what I want.

Durability/Construction, not so much on durability, but if there's one ski that gets a lot of heat, such as 05/06invaders, I stay away, other then that it's whatever, I don't really beat my skis too hard yet. Contruction, is basically same as price, I'm not going to buy a stiff ski if its $50 less if what I want is soft, although you can find everything at the priceranges now.

Where there made like volkl skis are made in china. The karmas are a killer ski but i whent with dynastar trouble makers because they come from france. They have a lot more soul to there company. There not outsourcing to get cheap labor in china that shit bothers me.

Brand & Brand Reputation

That's pretty much the order I consider all the things you mentioned.

i am looking into buying new skis, so i have my process still pretty fresh in my head.

first, its dimensions.

i have decided that i need a wider ski that has some substance to it, IE: NOT the anthem. preferably something with good all mountain/pow capabilities but not something like the AK Enemy.

so i have decided on a 90mm waist.

then i started looking at skis with a waist that size, looking at brands i trust first (K2, Line[amazingly enough] and 4frnt)

i am not too tough on skis, to be honest i still kinda suck at rails and shit, so if i have heard about edges ripping out i kinda just ignore it.

i definitely want sandwich construction, no capped, but thats not really an issue right now as far as i know.

at this point once i have the brands and models narrowed down and decided that they have similar flex and dimensions, it goes to a graphics war, and this is when its SUPER important.

i am actually still deliberating right now over two skis, and one company will be getting my $400+ simply because of some ink on plastic.

as for price, i have had my PE's for like 3-4 seasons now, so i dont mind spending some good money on a ski nowadays.

i think i will pick up a pair of invaders of fuji's on the side, too, though. simply because they are cheap and i have extra bindings.

hope that helped
