So im HOPING to drive out west in 2 years when i finish my undergrad and bum for a year or two, so im starting to budget.
does anyone have any first hand experience with something like this?? obvy this is gonna change depending on if i get an appartment/house, still own a car, etc, as far as budget goes...just looking for a general discussion/guidance.

Energy drinks are for bourgeois elitists. Coleman stove and black tea off the tailgate of your pickup. Ketchup and saltine cracker sandwiches are the highest nutrition you can get for free at most resorts. Get to know and love cold wet socks.

i dont mean advice like that. i mean advice as in how much i could live on as far as actual money goes.
im not looking for grocery items, lol

i got a feeling NS isnt the best place to ask a question like this lol. teton here i come.

your right, alot of the kids on here are from jersey and east coast yuppie areas.

what you need to ski bum:

$2000 (down payment on appartment, gas for trip there)

an appartment/couch to crash on

a mountain near by

all your ski shit

a car that can carry your ski shit

weed, blunts, lighter

a shitty job at the mountain (free pass)

no i mean budgeting, ive been saving ever since i started making money, so im just trying to figure out how much i will spend, im not concerned about having the actual money.

You need a fair amount of capitol because most places want First, last, and deposit for rent. Unless you are just going to do employee housing, then its a little cheaper. Other than that, just do it and commit to it, Never doubt your decision, never think about going home, just find ways to make it work. Be a good employee, its not hard, but a lot of people fuck up and get fired.
Otherwise! you got this! HAve Fun!

I've spent the season bummin it. Depends on if you wanna live in your car or not. (pros: no rent, cons: no showers/bathroom).

I spent:

$300 a month on a room in a house living with some liftys.

Alc/weed money

$500 on a season pass (optional if you wanna skin the bc or bum around to other resorts)

I budgeted out a workable food plan that had me living on mac and cheese, pop tarts, and water. This can be done for about $30.00 a week, but that's hobo living.

Mac and Cheese: 1 pack per day @ $2.00= 14.00

6.5 boxes of pop tarts: 6 pop tarts per day @ $2.00 a box=13

Coffee: 3.00 a week

However, I upped it to $60.00 a week and live on actual food.

If you already have skis/gear, this is a workable bum budget.

Doesn't it depend on what your plans are?
Its hard for someone who to tell you when all we know is "ski bumming out west".
