i grew up in vermont skiing almost exclusively at jay, but i graduate this spring and am looking to spend a year ski bumming. where's the best place to spend a season? i'm up for anything on the continent. I've been looking at places like a-basin, crested butte, whitewater, red mtn, mostly smaller earthy places anywhere in the rockies. people here come from all over, so what's everyone's opinion? maybe people could expand it to best place for each region like colorado, utah, teton, bc interior, etc.

colorado, summit county. theres keystone, breck, a basin, vail, copper, beaver creek, winter park. everywhere you want to go to is close by. by far the best

trees you need to look at places with a pretty good village or town right nearby. If you want to go to the Rockies I'd say go to Breckenridge, out of all the places i the Rockies I've skied that is the best place. Anywhere in Summit County, Colorado would be great. Your real close to like 5 major resorts there.

You can get the Buddy Pass for A basin, Keystone and Breck for 250. Get the Colorado Pass for Keystone, breck, a basin and 10 days at vail and b creek for 330. getting a pass to 1 mountain colorado is a rip off. you can get a copper/winterpark pass too for 250-300, i forget

If you want it all in a single place, there's nothing like Whistler. The problem is that finding work up there pretty damn hard. I've been told the same about Red Mountain. Alot of people do the Summit County thing, but expect a 5000:1 mail female ratio. Crested Butte, is an isolated and quiet kind of place compared to something like Breck. I wouldn't be able to spend a season there. Mammoth or Utah might be other places to consider.

if ya like a smaller resort with nice runs and barely any lift lines go to schweitzer in NOrth Idaho. 15 min. out of Sandpoint, ID

Skiing, its so damn hot right now!

sup trees... u ride at jay nice jay is a good mtn. why would u want to spend a year ski bummin anywhere else?

work somewhere in Banff, with a pass there you get free lift tickets at all the other Banff mountains. plus its a crazy party town, just watch out for them STD's

Don't go to Summit county. It's so damn crowded. Go somewhere with some soul and sense of community. I moved to Crested Butte from the east a few seasons ago and my life gets better every day. A cool thing about being here is that it's isolated, but you are only 4 hours from Denver. The people are really great and everyone looks out for each other. And the backcountry is phenomenal. An added bonus is the summers are great too. I'm not saying it's the place for you, but I found what I was looking for here....for now anyway. I want to try a new spot eventually though. I'm thinking about Washington or Oregon after college. Or maybe Utah...or wherever. You should maybe check out Fernie or Golden BC. Great snow, but more low key than Whistler or Banff.

Look... A mountain RAM. Staring contest. Me and you. You don't even blink do you? You win. You always do. Goulet.

you should check out the tahoe area too, there's lots of resorts fairly close to eachother. housing is expensive and there's lots of dudes, but that's how it is at every good ski town. i know a couple people out here from jay peak and they love it. otherwise, i'd try alta. I hear that's the best place to bum, but i don't know shit about it besides that.
