Ski Bum Plan

I was thinking about what to do after I graduate, housing in any good ski resort is so damn expensive and staff housing is not a permanent thing... You buy an motorhome (a nice one) and a car you can tow, and then you can live in your motorhome. You could have a main resort where you work at and then travel. It would be a cheap way to go, i know a guy who lives at Riverside in Whistler all year around int his big ass motorhome that is really nice. Use you car to drive into town, retire in your motorhome, no house bills, just utilities. What do you guys think?? Dont answer me if your really young, your opinion does nothing.

Ride the Skogan, it is dope!

dude motor homes are expensive and the resale value is really bad - the only real estate that decreases in value. look just suck it up and pay rent. i did it, so can you. heres the thing, when you ski bum you don't really go that many other places - its a huge pain in the ass to leave, because you don't get paid while you are on vacation. i mean maybe its just me but i barely left jackson hole. of course we did have a very evenly distributed 500 inch season. now if you wanna go to icy anti-snow colorado, i could understand why you might wanna leave.

the only girl i've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes. but then they buried her alive one evening in 1945 with just her sister at her side and only weeks before the guns all came and rained on everyone. now she's a little boy in spain playing pianos filled with flames on empty rings around the sun.

ya i mean really just get a fuckin job its not that hard

'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee go nads' the squirle

he asked that little kids not respond. you don't know anything.

ps try really hard to find the right resort...look around for more great hills where rent is cheaper than usual. and see if you can find family, or friends of your family, that live near a resort.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.

Dude its not a terrible idea but mottorhomes are pretty expensive if u plan on paying it off and keepin it for a while it would probly work out. Where do u plan on parkin this motorhome u r goin to live in!

Here is the best way to ski bum. College. You go and major in some bullshit field like business or something that interests you at a near by college. I go to college it is the best years let me tell you. If you go to school in state, it is not as expensive as you would think. Plus, you are surrounded by tons of people your age, tons of parties and you can ski most of the days ever day. PLUS, you can get student season passes which are cheaper. And, you can get student loans with nearly no interest and no downpayment. A great way to push off 'real' life a couple of years.

Cody

As for the 12 years talking like they know what the fuck they are talking about, shut the fuck up. Some people can't afford college and don't have the oppurnity to go. But if you can go, do it.

Skiing is never a sport, but a lifestyle.

Some people question 'why' and wonder 'how'. They just can't seem to grasp 'how' or 'why' we do what we do. Others don't understand, they just continue to wonder. The truth of the mater is that we can't explain it either. All we can say is 'snow so deep you sink up to your hips', 'hits so big you can't see the landing', 'rails with all kinds of bends and kinks', 'natural cliffs and tree runs that you can't explain with any other word than sick' and still they don't understand what we do. On a board or skiis, it is the same. A feeling of freedom and expression in a way so uncommon. But still, they don't understand....

Megs, a good friend of mine says: 'Feel the fear, and do it anyway.' When you do, than you will understand.'

Excelent phrasing of my thoughts Cody. Plus, when it's all over and you're done bumming, you have something that's useful, even if it is a bullshit business degree. Don't get me wrong, skiing is one of the most important things in my life, but I wouldn't put my life on hold for 4 or 5 years just for skiing.

warrem miller lived in motor home in the parking lot at squal valley, just move in with someone else, preferable someone with extra money.

Before anything else, make sure you know that this rail is your little bitch, and that you'll nail it

i thought about ski bumming for a little while and then realized i was better off going to a college by a mountain.

i was going to go for a quad daffy but i was like, why huck? -mommy

dude i had a similar idea back when i was like 10.. that i would live in a winnebago or something and jus travel around and shit, but have a job to pay for it... that would be awesome, if it's what u wanna do and as long as u have it all figured out so it will work then go for it.

'Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil..'

I wanted to ski bum for a while but I think college is a better choice, however, once I am out of college, I think this would be fun:

Get three other people that want to be a bum, and buy a bus, then but bunks and a little kitchen in the front, and turn the back half into a ski shop, so you have a place to tune your skis and stuff, then just tour north america for a couple years.

nice onepiece

A few things about a motorhome: Its going to be a bitch to keep that thing heated all winter long. Everytime you take a dump, your motorhome is going to smell like shit. You will constantly need to keep pumping out waste and filling it with water. Housing I think is a lot easier and probally a lot cheaper in the shortrun (a few seasons).
