Ski boots (when not in use)

So, I've grown up being told that when you are not using your ski boots you should have them buckled up so they keep their form. It makes a lot of sense to me, and I will always do it.... doesn't matter if I'm told I'm supposed to or not. I've always thought that everyone did this as well... BUT - earlier in the week I went on a quick trip up to Revy with a group of friends and while packing the van in the morning I noticed that I was the only one who's boots were buckled up. I was with 6 skiers who's boots were unbuckled, and they said they never buckle their boots while not in use. Seamed very wrong to me... it's not like they're shitty skiers who don't know anything either, some of them truly rip.

So, it got me to thinking, how many people don't actually keep their boots buckled while not in use. Let me know what you do, and what people you know do. I'm really curious about the matter now.

my family doesnt usaully, but they dont really know much about proper care for ski equipment, i personally do and so do all my friends that i ski with regularly

if it's only in between days of skiing, it really doesn't matter. but if it's going to be for any extended period of time, keep your boots buckled. the materials that make up the shell of a boot, the upper cuff in particular, start out as flat sheets. over time they'll naturally return to this state if you don't keep your boots buckled so they can keep their shape and form.
i always keep mine buckled.

ive been doing it for a while. most of the people i know dont do it, but most of the people i know are retards so..

I keep mine loosly buckled up, usually with the liners out but mainly because i don't put them back in after letting them dry

Its good to buckle them because if you throw them in the back of the car unbuckled, there is a greater chance the buckles will snag on something and over time break off. Its happened to me before, so now I always buckle.

I used to not buckle my old boots up and they got super big and got hard to buckle and warped a lot.

Now I buckle my new boots up every time after I get back from shredding. Most of the people I know do the same also.

Like a couple have already said: If you ski everyday, it does not matter. If you ski twice a month you should buckle them up. Over the summer buckle em' up.

I buckle mine... then again I also outgrow boots alot so it probably wouldnt matter. Ah well all de 16 in a few weeks. Mabie my foot has finally stopped growing.

Always buckle your boots. When you take them off, they're warm. When plastic is warm is will cool/set and form how you leave them. By buckling them, you make sure they stay in the right shape. If that makes any sense...

i try to buckle them as soon as i put my liners back in after drying, and if i forget, i do notice it is much more difficult to get them buckled again after a week of sitting there

keeping them buckled when not in use is definitely standard...
if your boots are uncomfortable, especially when putting them on, keeping them buckled when you're not using them will make it exponentially less painful to ride in them/put them on

I always keep them buckled. Even if I'm skiing the next day. It keeps the shape of my boots and prevents the buckles from getting snagged on things or getting banged around. Plus it looks neater.

i always buckle them after skiing. no matter what. it's sort of an OCD thing because i've been doing it for so long

When I take mine off the plastic is usually cold because I use them in the snow. Where sir do you ski? Or did I miss you say that you wear them on the ride home?

The liner is warm, but that means nothing, its an intuition liner and is firmly molded to the shape of my smelly foot.

i dont really do either, i keep them buckled the exact way or at least as close as possible to how i wear them when i ski. its better that way because they will be in the shape you actually use them, rather than being bigger or smaller

From what I've heard you don't want to buckle them too tight when not in use because that too can warp the plastic, I always buckle mine at the point where there is tension when the pulling the buckle back, if that makes any sense

i always do and i make sure all of my friends do, i had a friend who had his tongues (full tilts) hanging out all the time and it looked like they were bound to snap off, and he broke some buckle or something, now he always does it...

i am pretty sure it does help hold the form of the liner and is a nessecary care technique

Ijust went downstairs and looked at a pair of my boots that dont fit anymore that I left un buckled and they were loseing their shape. I always buckly the boots that I fit in though.
