Ski boots loose or tight

So I personally like my ski boots loose. When they are tight and you land akwardly or backseat I feel like they hold your legs in place and it hurts. So what is your preference loose or tight?

Lol.

I like on my full tilts to have the toe buckle cranked down very tight, The middle buckle mediumly tight, and the top shin one somewhat loose. That was you get good control and good flex too.

If you gotta wear em loose b/c it hurts when you land, jump, turn, ect, it is because they are too big and your foot is moving!

A tight fit equates to way better control of the ski. A loose fit is sloppy and not good. most good skiers like a very tight fit but some room at the toes so your not slamming them in the front of the boots. See a boot fitter.

Loose as possible (read: unbuckled) because its the best for landing jumps, high speed control on groomers, and most comfortable on the lift.

the skaters were like the first park rats and they were clearly on to something

Gapers ride with loose boots and ill fitting gear and ride backseat and always complain that their shins hurt while denying they ski backseat.

Pros ALWAYS have tight, well fitted boots.

I prefer to have tighter boots. Although its more uncomfortable, they feel much more responsive. i find that it really helps with butters and gives you way more control when skiing fast or sliding rails.

This thread made me think of this time some guy had a yard sale and the shell of his boot came off with his ski.

I'm not saying loose like they are gonna fall off, but I mean like medium like not the 5th clasp but maybe the 3rd or 4th

the top of my full tilts are always buckled all the way and are way too loose and the bottom and middle are super tight when they are buckled half way. Do i just have too wide of feet or something

I'm not sure about full tilts , but most boots have a second screw point to move the buckles over or back. Take them to a boot fitter and he'll adjust your buckles to better accommodate your lower leg and foot .

Hmmm...maybe you should go talk to the rental tech and get refitted for the day.

Ya I know it sound funny but I'm being serious

well this is not a good question, your ski boots should always be just about as tight as you can bare. they are supposed to hold you in place and feel almost like casts so you can control your skis homie cmon.

Mine are loose because when they are tight my shins hurt too much just to have them on

actually its landing/riding backseat that causes shin bang so you might wanna tighten up your boots and focus on learning to ski properly as that will make skiing much more fun and less painful.

contrary to popular belief the toe buckle doesn't actually do anything at all except keep water out so when you tighten it its just bad for your feet and unnecessary. your middle buckles should be as tight as you can bare to force your ankle back into the boot to allow the boot to flex naturally and so you can control your skis without your foot moving in the boot. finally the top buckle is more based on preference than the other ones but should still be tight it really just allows you to determine how much lean and flex you get.

lol yall some dumboys.

your boots should be so tight that you lose feeling from the shin down. Then you don't have to worry about toe/shin bang because everything with be numb. #themoreyouknow

You should have fitted boots so it wouldnt hurt when they are tight

when you wear loose boots you can't do shit. Butters won't happen because your feet will pretty much come out of the boot. You also have way less control over them in the air, which makes spins onto rails or really anything at all way harder. you're basically asking us if we like to wear boots the correct way or not

this is the kind of bullshit we have to deal with when kids start skipping the "learning to ski" section of the textbook in favor of "how to be steezy."

You want that shit tight bro. Having them loose will kill your shins. You probs don't want to tighten them up because your shins are already fucked up

Nah bro I usually ski with them tight... I only made this thread because I hurt my shin and I wanted to know if it would be okay to ski with them loose for a while...so my shin would heal

here's some real talk, skiing with them loose will only make the shin hurt more. if your shin is hurting in the first place, hit up a good bootfitter and they'll probably tell you your boots are too big

I roll full tilts with a real soft flex for park-- that way I can crank 'em down tight to maximize control, but when I land they flex and absorb to eliminate shinbang.

congratulations you win the golden wheelchair award. this is the dumbest thing I've read in years
