Ski boot foam..

So i was talking to my uncle the other day about his ski boots, and he had this old pair, that when you buy them you buy the shell, and then you put your feet inside the plastic shell, on top of a soft sole that they fit to your foot by hand (cutting out/adding foam/padding), then in the back they inject this foam into the boot(while your foot is in this plastic bag and a thin felt lining around your foot) and it fills the entire boot forming aorund your foot shape and then you wait for like 20 min and then it fits perfectly. I thought this idea was soooo sick. Then all you had to do was go back and have them re-fill your boot with this foam, it was so sick. I wonder if anyone does this anymore, seems like the perfect way to get custom boots fitted right

im pretty sure that is what a plug boot is. its for racers. wickedly uncomfortable, but you will be able to turn an edge like a samouri. doesnt matter for pow or park though. they are starting to make faux plugs, but still really uncomfotable.

no, it's called surefoot. both my roommates in mammoth had them. it's a store that specializes in customizing boots. they do some crazy shit though.

i got the cork surefeet last season (and no i don't race) boots are way smoother. i don't notice a huge differance other than comfort (if you wear your boots loose you will find a bigger differance, but i wear mine tight so i dont notice as much). it's a little expensive but you can take them out and put them in your new boots every time you buy them. over all i'm glad i got them.

dude, surefoot is the name of a store that does custom boots. It is not what the product is called. When they make a custom boot, they put their label on the boot

surefoot is just insoles..i think hes referring to plug w/c is for racers and hurts but works..

Are you buying an all east college pass? It'd help me out if you bought it at attitash.com/parker. It's the same price as the normal site and will accomplish the exact same thing, but you'd be helping out a fellow newschooler. thanks

yo its called a "foam injection liner" lots of different custom boot shops do it and the liner it self is produced by several big names in the industry, im actually not sure if surefoot does, in general, and especially their footbeds are inferior compared to other stuff on the market

no no no, surefoot is not just insoles, your probably thinking of superfeet. SUREFOOT is a store that makes completely custom liners and footbeds for your boots. they use foam injection to make a liner that fits perfectly. it's fucking amazing.

yeah its for racers and no its that uncomfortable only while in the process of foaming the liners is it uncomfortable the tighter ur boots are the high performance u get from them

the foam injection liner works great, for maybe 20 days or so. then it starts to pack out and the fit gets super crappy. thats why its pretty much only used in race boots these days, because they will use that boot for two to four runs a day and thats it, only used on race days. its expensive and not practical for someone who is putting 50+ days into a pair of boots. if you're looking for something custom molded to your foot, get a lange with the custom air liner. its as close as you can get fit-wise to foam injection, and it doesnt pack out or cost hundreds of dollars extra.

that would just be weird i would think like wouldnt any movement from your feey be uncomfortable and awkward if they are only fitted for one position not to mention the fact they would be a bitch to put on and you'd be glues into your boots ay carumba

almost every boot company now has "heat moldable Liners" which basically beats the break in proccess (usually skiing a boot for 2-4 days) and just because they "Mold" to your feet, unless you get a custom molded liner, they're still gonna pack out just like any other liner. and they're not just for racers, any boot work done to keep your feet from moving is beneficial for any skier. superfeet or custom footbeds are probably the best and first thing you should put in your boots before considering any other boot work

My roomate has had his surefoot foam liners for 3 seasons in mammoth(i.e. a ton of days). They still fit like the day he bought them, and they warranty their work for a ridiculous amount of time. however, they are quite expensive.
