Would a roller bag work in the car and stuff too?

I would say not essential but definitely nice to have. I found a dakine fall line bag super cheap on sale last season and it was super nice to have a bigger bag, could bring 2 pairs of skis plus all my boots, pants, jackets, poles etc. If ur bringing that much stuff without wheels it's doable just a workout. I don't personally use mine for the car as I don't really see the point but it wouldn't be that much more inconvenient space-wise than bringing just the skis.

Flew with my skis for the first time a few weeks ago and If I would’ve known how ass it was carrying around all my gear and a suitcase I definitely would have bought a roller bag

I’ve travelled a lot with my shitty Volkl shoulder carry bag across Europe with either 1 or 2 pairs of skis, all my stuff, and an extra bag for helmet and boots and I’d definitely suggest getting a roller bag.

You’ll think it’s not that bad until you actually start on your journey and instantly start hating your life and wishing you’d got one. I’m getting one this season too and know a lot of people with good experiences with the dakine fall line.

A roller bag will make life easier.

I've gone on two trips with a regular padded bag and while i kept it as light as possible It was still very annoying and tiring. Anytime I got to a smooth floor I was dragging that thing.

Ditch the suitcase for a 35-40L backpack. Learn to pack well.

Roller bags are cool. I have the dakine fall line 190cm length and its pretty good. The one thing you need to be careful about is putting in too much and going overweight for air travel, it's so big it would be easy to go over 50lbs.

Yo, I am traveled a lot so a few tips. I would say like this: if your trip is home -> airport -> resort rolling bag is not essential. If you have trip with multiple transfers, long walks etc. I would recommend getting rolling back it will make life less miserable. Also one downside of rolling bag is it usually adds 1-2kg to weight limit.

Not sure what you mean by "work in car". Usually with ski inside car it requires to fold backseats, it will work same way with roller bag.

If you travelling just by bus/train you can take hiking backpack and attach skis to the sides I find it more comfortable then rolling bag. But this will not work for airport.

I dont have a roller bag but wish I wouldve bought one. I do use the carts at the airports as I usually have numerous bags traveling with family and just pretend I am an airplane flying down the walkways. Solo traveling a roller is what I would prefer.

I've gotten over a decade of use out of my Dakine Fall Line Double. It's padded, and the fact that it's big enough to pack your skis plus most of your outwear but still relatively easy to roll around makes it a no brainer for me - not to mention I've seen more than a few of those thin sleeve style ski bags absolutely thrashed by airlines/baggage handlers. I'll often take it in the car, too, just to keep things from getting to cluttered in there when you're packing up (I'm usually driving 4+ hours to get to the snow.)

If you do end up paying for a roller bag, go for the DB one. I've used a fair number of roller bags, on long, international trips with a lot of dragging skis around and jamming skis and bags into rental cars, and that DB bag is head and shoulders better than anything else I've used. Not affiliated with the brand, don't even own one myself, just have been on multiple trips with folks that did have that bag, and have been jealous of them every time.
