Ski areas near DC

Hey guys. The DC metro area is getting hammered with snow, and my friends and I want to take a weekend ski trip. We are all transplants here, and frankly are overwhelmed with the # of ski areas to choose from. We are looking for a place with the best terrain, solid park, least traffic, and under 3.5 hours away. All help is appreciated.
 
if you want to ski a REAL MTN WITH REAL CLIFFS, come to timberline/canaan.

wisp is good, lots of terrain, and they have 3 parks right now i believe, only 2 of them are legit tho.

liberty has a good park, i skiied it the day we got 2 feet and it was pretty good.

roundtop would be better than liberty for the masive snow we're getting, long runs on the farside, and a pretty good park.

you could go to seven springs, but thats pretty far.

 
Basically, Whitetail has the best runs in the DC area, within an hour and a half. A little further would be Wisp and Seven Springs, Seven Springs being the best. Park wise Whitetail is GOD AWFUL, like it cant get worse. Roundtop also has a good park, but lacks the vertical. Park wise Seven Springs also has the best parks. But, since this storm will be more south, i would say liberty. Great park, alright trails, but will get the most snow out of all of them. i stayed at liberty for the 20" a few weeks ago and it was great. the trails eventually get choppy later in the day, but it is mostly fed from people from DC, who will definitely NOT try to drive during the storm. SO definitely DONT GO TO WHITETAIL. Id chose between Liberty, Roundtop and Seven Springs, making my top recommendation Liberty. Hope that helps.
 
good suggestions so far. It might be liberty's trail map, but it looks small as hell compared to whitetail, and snowshoe.
 
I ski at Wintergreen and live in Charlottesville. We just got a new jump builder and our park got way better. With the snow I would head up on Friday so you don't get stuck at the bottom. We have some tree runs that are sweet when it snows and the mountain is pretty good. It's just under 3.5 hours away I think
 
liberty would be good.but i'm going to seven springs this weekend. hopefully we get it pretty good up there too.
 
if your looking for a nice park and willing to drive go to 7 springs all parks are open now northpark the alley and the spot are real legit this year got a 70ft step over in the spot
 
Largest dumping is in the forecast for the mountains of west virginia just letting you know. FUUUUUUUUUUUUU southern tracking storms.
 
As of yesterday wintergreen has shit for a park.

They have 2 parks technically, a park with smaller features ( retarded 2 ft boxes and rails) infested by gapers.

Then they have a Jump line with 4 kickers no bigger than 15 ft. I think they have a cannon rail and a down rail too....pretty weak

With that said, Wintergreen is supposed to get over 20 inches this weekend, if they don't groom it wouldn't be a bad idea to check it out.

 
i had a ton of fun at liberty all weekend. we got 20 inches and i skied a bunch of lines in the trees i had never skied before. as of this morning, the park is sooooo sick! a bunch of features and nice jumps
 
i agree with seemon. liberty for shure. gaper friendly but has good beginner park (thats alot of fun) and the best hip i have ever hit
 
springs got thirty inches. best skiing i have ever done. so much untracked.

then i got my skis stolen.
