ski areas in the summer

So i'm strolling around the base area at my favorite little hill in connecticut the other day. I take a look around and I notice the serenity of my location. Birds chirping, deer on the big ol' summit and the quiet hum of a kutkwick lawn mower in the background. It struck me as strange that a place that is jam packed with little monsters, bombing down canyon run with their buddies every day, all winter long is now desolate, not a soul to be seen.

After that hippie momment, i got to thinking about what happened this past season, with the introduction of actual jibs and features and the great events that were put on. Then, i got to day dreaming about what;s going to be goin down next season. This was great, day dreaming, making plans, getting the ball rolling. well, as i;m thinking about all the things i want to do next season, i was wondering, what the hell do the kids who actually come here to ride want up here? So, i figured, since i had a minute, i;d come down here and punch out a letter real quick like.

What do you fools want to see down here in Connecticut? I;m thinkin bigger and badder jibs, but what about you guys? how many of you greased the 60 footer regularly, or nailed the 40 down kink? Want some smaller stuff to learn on? what? Just asking

alright, i;m off to go cut grass on little joe,

keep it real this summer, and keep your eyes and ears open for pre-season jib jams and new movie parties. alright, i;m out of here

i couldn't grease the 60 for shit. i couldn't stay on it. i loved the 20 footer, i was heartbroken when that little guy went down. i never tried the down kink, it was too high for my liking, i felt like i couldn't try it to learn how to do kinks. i wish there were more tables, not just the big air, and a 'step up' that hardly threw you anywhere. i loved the idea of jibs in a line, except it was abad location and douche bags in jeans loved the rollers too much. i thought you did a great job, this was my frist season at sundown and i am coming back.

60 would be nice.

Chris Knight : So, if there's anything I can do for you, or, more to the point, to you, you just let me know.

Susan : Can you hammer a six-inch spike through a board with your penis?

Chris Knight : Not right now.

Susan : A girl's gotta have her standards.

haha my friend and i have been planning our quarterpipe and rails in the back yard of our club ever since the season ended

...RUN FOR COVER PRODUCTIONS...

jarrod, i've definetly skied my fair share of parks, and im super stoked on what your doing for sundown. i would try and work on more rhythme and flow sections and lines that are filled with medium sized features, than say just one gnarly 60 footer. and not to bag the east coast, but with your not so perfect weather conditions and snow pack, i can say i wouldnt really wanna throw down on some 70 footer. i would make some boxes too. maybe just a 15 foot flat, adn then a pretty small flat to down as well, cuase they are super easy to learn on, and dont hurt bad when you fall on them. and for the one day i did ski there last year, i didnt like the location of the 60 footer. i think it should be somewhat down hill. it just seemed like you were on it forever. keystone has a 150 footer that is downhill, and it def. felt smoother and quicker than yours. just some suggestions, you dont need to really listen. oh, and what i really want, but you probly wont be allowed to do, is an S rail with an extra C, and then a S rail with a gap in the middle of it. if you get those maybe i'll make it back east for more than 2 days next winter. sorry about the ramblings...

what up dyl

the double s is going to happen, the gap idea was brought up, but we decided that we;ll do two c's and maybe set them up that way at some point for an event, its sundown ya know.

take it easy man

I have moments like that all the time. theres something nice about a ski area in the summer. I find it calming. Last summer I sat on the lift at WV for half an hour just thinking about skiing (and eating).

oh snap, a quarter pipe would be great. doesn't even have to be big, as long as it is lovely. you could get a lot of attention with one at sundown.

if you do have a quarterpipe you really need to have a lot of maitenenc for it. The one at Power this year was horibly miantained, it sucked, don't be like power ridge

I think what went down at Sundown this year sounds great. I'll be heading up there quite a few times next year, and I think you'll get a lot of attention with building more jibs. For example, a smaller downkink, maybe the same length with less height would be nice, or a down flat down, which doesn't have to be too long. A QP as mentioned above would be nice, but hitting shitty QP's gets old real fast. Keep it up, and build more jibs!

I WANT SNOW... this sucks that its 80 degrees out and plus every morning when i wake up i look out my window and see the mountain it really sucks..

no snow..

no girls..

no future..

Snowfall dictates the days activities if its snowing do it another day...

that wallride idea is pretty good. it dosent have to be a superduper large one like mammoth or anything. actually mamoth ahs a littler (like 8 ft.) A frame wedge thing the you can rock and roll up on and it could be set up in differnt positions for differnt uses. word fluff

me being a not so advanced skier at all, i would like to see more boxes, rails, and such. i tried a c rail up in canada, but only hit it a couple tiems. i wanna learn to do some of this stuff, but without them up in the first place.....sundown is turnin the way it should. great job man

when the loaf was just making snow with no lifts open i hiked up , and it was just me on the whole mt, and i was thinking to my self this is really weird cause every other time i have ever been there , there has been a lot of people around
