i've been wanting to get one done for a long time i just couldn't

decide what to get. this idea is almost a year old but after some

recent experiences it means a lot more to me and i really like it.

mytattoo.jpg

the flower is going to be on my shoulder/bicep and the roots will wrap down my arm a little past my elbow.

basically it means that things are not always the way they appear, the

flower is the pretty part of things that you can see, and as the roots

get lower they get more tangled and twisted, representing the other part of

everything that you can't see and don't always know is there. it also

represents being closer to the natural world, because it's a plant and

the roots are wrapped around my arm.

any feedback would be awesome, on either the idea or tweaks to the

design. i just drew this so any suggestions will be appreciated.

thanks guys :)

I think it would be better if the flower was a bit bigger and maybe like an exotic flower from the rain forest. IDK thats just my opinion. Great idea though it actually has meaning behind it. alot of people nowadays just get tattoos for the hell of it.

oh and feedback.

maybe make the flower a little more like a rose? prettier and such? and maybe color the flower a certain color then fade it down into black/dark brown roots.

damnit i want that on me actually, even though i didnt think of it its sweet as hell and it suits me actually. damn i want it

that's actually what i want to do with the flower, i just started drawing and this is the first version, i really want to find some intense looking exotic flower for this.

and to ace, i want to keep it black and white but i've been thinking about the shading. i did make the roots get a little darker on the bottom but i think i'll do a fade to black all the way down the roots.

I would make it dark up top and fade away as it goes down the roots. You know "where it stops, no one knows" sorta thing

that's why you can get touchups, and this is just a mock-up, i haven't worked with a tattoo artist yet. there won't be as much overlapping when it is on me.

as you (OP) and others have said, i'd do some more with the flower... if that's the meaning you're going for, you should try to really have contrast between the beauty of the flower and the business end of the roots. it's an awesome concept, man. work with an artist to see what you can cook up and get that shit inked!

you're an asshole, and you aren't funny. so shut up.

I think it's cool man, i would love to see a finished product, and your location that you want it is perfect IMO. I say go for it!

very good concept. i know its still in the early stages but my only suggestion is make the flower a little larger and a specific type of flower. maybe a rose? (a little cliche and roses dont even grow that way i know) but still, sick idea

wow some of you guys are serious assholes

I like the tat a lot but yah a bigger flower would be nice and I also like the fading to black as the roots get lower and lower.

Your compute must be having some issues, everything you post is posted twice. Not just a normal double post, but like, you hit reply twice cause it wasn't loading type double post.

On subject though. Pretty sick looking, but to be honest, like many others have said, make the flower bigger and possibly more exotic.

i didnt read anything except the title lol so sorry for my ignorance if something like this has been stated.Flower too small and too many roots. But its sick. I saw someone with a tree with roots like that on his forearm and it was sick.

sick idea, but yea, the flower should be bigger, maybe almost like looking down on it? get some foreshadowing going so the scale doesnt look unnatural. and i would make the roots way gnarlier lookin, almost like tuberish ya know? to make the contrast between the two concepts more evident. but yea, again man, should be a great tat, gotta post pics when your all done with it!

yea this is true, maybe a more beautiful flower also, but the flower needs to be big, but gotta consider the flower would be on his bicep and the roots tangle around his whole mid arm

There is absolutely no need to get a tattoo. Do you really need that design plastered on your skin? Just buy a t shirt or something with the design on it. It will be just as visible and it won't be on you for life and you won't look trashy and stupid.

And are you eric pollard? (to your right)

not hating on the TC's tat, but this kid went to my highschool and i fucking hated his tat, no meaning and stupid shit

plus he was a hipster asshole, its a tree with octopus tentacles as the roots, but he fucking put some gay saying on it, and now has a mushroom or ssomething making the top of it

if it means something to you go for it, but i dont know about the flower, seems a little girly

maybe use a sapling instead?

this kid looks like THE biggest burnout evarr.

but for the thread creators tat, def. make the flower bigger and more exotic. and im not sure i would have it be that long........... i might just have it go down to your mid-bicep but hey thats just me.

yeah now that i look at it they are very similar, i've had this drawing on my longboard grip since way before i ever saw any of pollards trees that look like that though.

this thread is getting some awesome responses thanks NS. i'm getting a lot of good ideas to incorporate into it.

and to everybody taking the drawing literally you have to consider that the tattoo artist will work with it and make it look as sick as they can. this is just the first version and there will be a ton of differences when it's on me.

Just a few smalls things that might help it without changing it too much...

1) Make it say 4:20 in roman numerals, (IV:XX)

2) Put it on your inner wrist.
