hey i wanna get into skate boarding and i was just wonderin if its hard for a beginner?? cuz if its uber hard ill prob give up after like a day. i know it takes practice, and u need to ollie to do anything. how long does it take to learn ollies for noobs?
 
I bought a board cuz i wanted to get into it, and it took me about a week to get a 2 inch high ollie down. Plus you're more likely to get hurt doing that that you are skiing.

i got my first board when i was around 9 and im 16 now. its a long ride because you can easily get down. If you really want it then go for it.
 
very easy to get a turf setup. i have one.

anyway if ur looking to get better at skiing. just like skate. as in rollerblade and start hitting rails and shit. i get shit for this but it help a ton. when i learned how to do 3s, 5s and 7s on skates i felt way more comfurtable to try them on skis
 
^i was thinkin of that but its not really to get better at skiing, its just for some summer fun, u know?? im just lookin for somethin new
 
its damn hard. ive only been skating for a year all round cause i dont skate in winter, and i can onlyu like, 180, kickflip, boardslide..and some fakie stuff.
 
put it this way....learn how to land on the board while its moving fast...so u can stomp stuff without slipping out....and make sure u can jump a decent height
 
skating takes a lot of practice..... i skate more than i ski becasue we shovel snow and build ramps in the winter too.... but once you get it, its super fun. being able to do things like nollie bigspins( just got that one), and crazy fliptricks will never be as fun as bombing a hill, or cruising around with your buddies though...... so when you get the basics, you'll know if its for you.
 
i skate only in the summer too, and i have been skating for about a year or so, and its hard but its fun-it's a challenge to learn something new, or to nail a trick.

Give it a try, it something new and if you hate it later, so what?
 
skating gets frustrating, the better you get. but its deffinatly worth the frustration. not only should you work on ollies, but practice riding switch a lot too. that once you can do 180's and stuff you can do a swith trick and make a little line out if it. also, manuals are clutch. if you can manual really well you can link tricks together, so work on those too. have fun.
 
Yeah, skating is hard. You're probably not going to be able to ollie in a day, so if you're gonna give up after that...don't waste your money on a skateboard.
 
its hard but fun. i cant even kickflip but i like ollie-ing (sp) stuff. if you dont like it, try longboarding, i do that too its a lot of fun.
 
skateboarding is probably the hardest, frusturating, rewarding, and addictive past time you could probably ever take up.

I started last year and skated every day since, its amazing because the better you get at it the more fun it gets so you just keep getting more hooked.
 
well it depends cuz it took me 15 minutes to learn how to ollie

it really depends on how determined u are but if skating is too hard just longobard longboarding is also kick ass and u just have to have balls for longboarding
