Yes i siad it, so fuck you. I dont skate anymore cuse its damn hard and alot of risk involved. When i say its harder i basicly mean its hard to get good at. Dont get me wrong skiing is basicly first in my life but when i see people say that its gay or easy it pisses me off. I have been skiing for 2 years and can do some allright stuff, i skated for a year and could do nothing. If you look at some of the skateing vid they are doing ledges, rails and gaps that if they fall they die. I know pro skiers do this but in skateing vids its commen to do a ledge thats 20 feet off the pavment on one side. There is alot more risk on skateing, i know people drop insane clifs that if they fuck up they die. But with skates if you fuck up on some thing you landing on pavment. If you read this far im not talking about when you watch the X-games and shit im talking about hardcore skateing movies. I have only seen a few skateing movies and i was damn impressed and im sure if i saw more it would be even more so.

the biggest downfall of rollerblading is

it takes more effort to put on and lase blades, rather than just hopping on a skateboard

They have the same tricks in snowboarding, those didn't come from rollerblading, they're just standard tricks than can be applied to any sport.

I agree with Hennie. Rollerblading and skiing aren't even comparable. They are two entirely different sports on two hugely different scales. Just because you're using two feet doesn't make an ounce of difference. If we go by that school of thought, skiing is pretty much the same exact thing as water skiing, right? I mean not only are both feet seperated, but they are also on two planks! Yet, the sports are on opposite ends of the spectrum, just like rollerblading.

It's not fair to group skiing and rollerblading together for most of the people in our sport. It's two entirely opposite energies, flow, and attitude. Personally, if I travel on wheels on pavement I'd go for the skateboard.

THe names may have, but you cant do a misty on a snowboard like skis. The style and atatuide are basicly the same, i dont see much diffrence there at all. People have been doing flats and mistys on skates for a long time.

The style and attitude are totally different. Inline skating is basically centered around who does the most difficult trick. There isn't enough air or anything to grab that has made style the absolute center of skiing. Its just not physically possible for rollerblading to have the slow, steezy focus that skiing revolves around.

ok, you can say rollerblading and skiing arent similar, thats your opinion. but of all extreme sports, which is most similar to skiing? rollerblading. and to the person who said comparing skiing to blading is like skiing to waterskiing: rollerblading and skiing arent worlds apart like skiing and waterskiing are. thats like saying comparing apples and oranges is like comparing apples and fried chicken.

I have seen a skater do bio 5 over 15 set mad slow. I have also seen some big tables like 35-40 feet and they go slow and huge over them. Garen Grobe, like 2 years ago X-fered from the half pipe 20 feet away on to a plat form where a badn was set up.

I'd like to agree, but while snowboarding tricks have the same NAMES as skiing tricks, the motion isnt as similar as it is wiht skating and skiing.

For the most part, a cork on blades is the same as cork on skis, a flatspin on skates the same as skis.

rollerblading seems east to most people cuz they think there are 4 different grinds, frontside, backside, fastslade and backside, most people dont realise the complexity of other grinds (topsides, negatives ect) and switch ups.

congratulations. this thread re-inforced the basic principle of any sport or activity. a challenge and/or risk is involved. everything i do, and im pretty sure, any sport anyone does has some challenge to it. and look at that, rollerblading is a sport, and wow, it has challenges. like every other fuckin sport on the planet.

ok in my opinion i think roller skateing is so easy. maybe your just a bad athlete. i dunno but skiing came first and even if roller skateing didnt exsist the tricks would have evolved to the point at where they are right now. even if it took longer to develop it still woulda happened

i personally think that alot of people say they have found it easy because they have only really touched the surface of our sport. frontside soul mizou whatever right. people who have tried find jumps easier that's true but. the shear size of stuff that's getting killed by rollerbladers today is ridicolous and it is getting technical in it's own right by incorporating cess slides and heel and toe rolling tricks with grinds along with spins onto rails. rollerblading has evolved since the days of hoax two. man even though thrasher and transworld maybe telling you guys to hate us just remember you will never ever find insults coming the other way in rollerblading magazines because we have our own hub to care about. we as rollerbladers aren't asking you skateboarders to like us but to just give us respect for what we do and let us be. as for saying skiing and rollerblading don't correspond that is pretty wrong in my opinion. in british freestyle skiing our top skiers all rollerblade or rollerbladed. richard taylor who is up and coming third in british champs and mike wakefield who won it is a rollerblader. you know you may disagree but as long if it's your own not thrashers nor transworld's then im cool with that.
