Skateboard to help my skiing?

i can only grind rails with my right foot forward and the same goes when i skate, so i was just wonderin if skating fakie would get me used to grinding left foot forward for when the season goes around? any comments or suggestions on a different way to practice besides a summer setup cause i can't afford that.

I grind best right foot foward, but i ride regular on a board. I guess it could only help your balance to learn both ways so go for it

summer setups are free if you work construction...or even just go talk to some construction workers and ask for scrap wood, and even buying wood, if you buy scraps you can get enough for a setup for 20 bucks...cheaper than a skateboard.

I found learning to skate switch, along with skating mini ramp helped my rail skiing alot. sw ups, sliding both ways, spinning on, balance in general.

It helps so much with rails. If you can run and 270 onto a skateboard you have the balls and the balance to do it on skis.

yeah it would help a little probably, but just skating in general def helps skiing agility and balance wise. skating vert or bowl and shit keeps urlegs in shape

maybe you just blow at skating... It has def. helped me rip all sorts of jibs and helped my perspective of the mountain and its jibbable features...

i figured that.. but balance wise does skatin switch feel similar to slidin a rail unnatural? or would landing 180s switch help?

Skiing might be the most fun for you(is for me) but skatings just more evolved as a sport. Industry, film, tricks, culture, etiquite(not doin dumb wack shit), just all more evolved. They already been through all the dumb trends , industry highs and lows and most importantly its an industry that supports variety.

it helps a ton, skateboarding is so technical and takes so much ballance, getting good at skating just makes you better at anything athletic in general.

oh yeah.

tons of skateboarding culture, with everyone and their fifth grade brother trying to be a "skater"

you want a sport with culture?

surfing.

i think it would be best if you didn't take skiing so personally. there's way to many reasons for me to explain what i said. but if you spent any real time skating or with skateboarders, you'd know what i'm talking about.

since the secret is out, switching up while skateboarding feels just like your riding a rail. going slow, you can practice the motions of lots of different tricks, including 360 switchups. while standing in front of a still skateboard you can practice approaching a "flat bar." you can learn lipslides ,and 270 on-switch up -270 out, or even 450s on. i knew how to skateboard pretty good before i realized this, and starting using it for practice. so you might get broke off if you try to bust something out wihtout knowing how to skate..

doesn't sound retarded to me.. when i first hit a rail unnatural my feet slipped out from under me just like riding a skateboard switch.. ive been riding around a bit and getting more comfortable riding switch on a skate and landing switch and such and i think it will feel way more comfortable once i start hitting rails again. i probably should get myself to build a summer setup but i have no one to invest in it with and my backyard isn't too big, i'd have to build a pretty big drop in also because it's flat.. but until then ill probably keep skating. i also already had a skate is why i was wonderin and it wasn't a choice between a setup vs skate.

i dont think he understands^

but it works, you can even do it in your living room to start. switch 270 on is fun.
